We just had Tom's christening and he received a photo frame, some letters to spell his name on his door, some clothes and from his godmother some rosary beads.

I guess there is nothing too traditional. What about the Royal Doulton plates etc? I would be finding something that is special and will last forever.

Farmers have some Christening gift ideas and I think they have a sale starting tomorrow. Depends on how much you want to spend

Picture frames
Silver moneybox
Girl - silver bracelet
You can also get some good ideas at religious shops (sorry, not sure of the names)

We had both kids christening but asked for no presents..still, the family put money in and got a silver moneybox which was nice and something that we will keep

Lots of jewellers also have nice christening gifts. I also think that there are some nice things at Living & Giving.  I guess it depends on whether you / they are religious or not. Things that I have heard of are:

Rosaries, Bibles or Biblical story books or other beautiful books (ie Beatrix Potter collection or something like that), Royal Doulton collectables (ie Bunnykins plates, moneyboxes etc) or silverware (like moneyboxes).

Maya got a royal doulton Bunnikins plate, clock, cup and spoon from my parents, and rosary beads from my aunty, my sister got her an engraved knife, fork and spoon set and her godmother got her a little angel ornament. Other things she got were a sterling silver birth certificate scroll thingie, a photo frame, and I bought her a childrens bible.

The gremlins got a royal doulton china cross from my parents, and some other non-traditional stuff like clothes and teddy bears from other people, but they had a much smaller, less traditional christening than Maya.
