This sounds ridiculous but I think I'm allergic to my wedding band...

It's made of palladium and apparently that can cause dermatitis that can cause scarring which is exactly what it looks like?! I am gonna have a permanently scarred wedding band?

My engagement ring was made of a different metal and I have never reacted to that?

So, how do i find out if I'm right and what would you do? Get a new wedding band?! I LOVE my wedding ring, I don't want a different one!!

Could you get it coated on the inside with something?

I got exczema from my engagement ring (which is gold) when I was preg with the gremlins which was really random coz I've never had it before or since.

Sorry, I don't have any advice, I just stopped wearing it till they were born and was fine after that. It itched like buggery tho.

I had really bad exczema from my wedding ring too....Docs gave me some cream and it hasnt come back since!...Weird!

I was told to clean my rings every week and take them off when possible. I come home now and take off all my rings. Its ok as the Diamond sticks out and I dont wanna heart DD with it. I found that giving my finger the breather helps too....I just wear them while out and about! I know that sucks but other wise it will come back for me!!

Yep I get it too if I havent been careful to dry under it properly everytime I wash my hands. I'd say give you hands a breather too, and see how it goes.

BTW- good to see u back here~!

Wow, that is interesting. I wear 3 rings on my right hand and had to take them off a few weeks ago as I had a really red patch and some dry skin. I let it heal and put them back on 2 weeks ago, same thing again.....I just assumed that I can't wear them anymore

Hiya

I get wedding ring dermatitis sometimes if i don't rinse/dry underneath them properly (as kellz said above).
It's because soap/detergents etc can get caught under there and cause irritation. I find it's much worse now that I have the 3 rings instead of the two.

Try leaving them off for a while until the reaction clears, and when you put them back on, see if the reaction comes back. If you're allergic I would say it would come back fairly quickly?

Anyhoo, good luck!

Maybe there is hope for me then?!?

I think I'll give my finger a break and see if it clears up and maybe only wear it out and about... So annoying tho cause it must just be that type of metal, if I'd known then I could've had it made out of something else.

Andy thinks I am trying for new jewellry!

PS Thanks Kellz! Nice to be missed!!

I get excema from one of my rings too, so can't wear it often. I'd be interested to know if there is a coating or something that can be put on it to make it wearable!

If you do a google search it sounds like a common problem and some people have had success coating the inside of their rings with clear nail polish. It has to be reapplied when it starts wearing off though..

I wouldn't think so only because it can't be too corrosive considering it's used on our nails? I only mentioned it since a bunch of people seem to do it though, not from personal experience.

I had this last week and got my rings stuck on my fingers. I managed to get them off and am giving hem a good break so they can heal. Even a week on my finger my wedding ring was on still has a red mark.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I have this too.  Only started since I got my rings back on after having Luke.  Pharmicist says it is fungal and that leaving rings off for a few  days, drying hands properly etc should solve it.  Also trying a nappy rash cream... but nothing really helped, it still comes and goes...

Yip same as the others I got ezcema with my rings when I was pregnant.

try taking them off when you shower/bath and do anything that causes your hands to get wet - as the wetness can get stuck in there and cause the ezcema. Leave it off for a lil while and see if the ezcema goes away. Or use cream to get rid of the ezcema.

I've emailed the jeweler about getting it coated in something, should hear back from her today. Will let you all know if she has anything of interest to say!

I'm giving them a break at the moment, the problem is that if I take them off then I always froget to put them back on! Seems silly to have great rings and not wear them...

I've just had an email from the jeweller...

Apparently this can happen when your ring it too tight so getting it half a size bigger can help. And also cause there are stones in the ring then grime can get stuck in the holes underneath which can cause it.

And you can get a ring rhodium plated (is that what they do for white gold also?) which may be able to help!
