Topic: A photo 4 you all, but esp. Roksana ;) Posted: 20 April 2006 at 3:07pm |
I'm sure I mentioned this before, but once upon a time I was part of a bridal party for a super traditional Indian wedding... finally got the guts up to find one of the photos where I don't look TOO awkward !!

No not at all!!! you look good.
I have a friend who married a "white chic" (as we call her...he he he ha). And she had both Europian wedding and an Indian wedding...and she looked good too. The fact that you are fair makes you look more beautiful.
Who gave you that Sari?

The sari I got from a friend who picked it up when she went home to Malaysia for the holidays, I'm not sure if I still have it or not - it's probably in storage at my mums. I have one other that is fancier with LOTS of gold embroidery on it, but simply haven't had an opportunity to wear it I love how they look but you're right about how hard they can be to walk in !! The bangles were just plastic, but the necklace and earrings were real gold ("indian" gold that is LOL).

Yah I love the way sari looks on "some people"...I am not one of them. I feel very awkward wearing them, I feel like its going t o come apart while I am walking and I will end up standing in a pettycoat and blouse....hmmmm.
I have several sari's but only wore one when I got married (signing) in the morning. oh and I use to wear them when I did classical indian dancing...(with loads and loads of safety pins...he he ha ha). I prefer the skirt, top and vail option better. The sari you wore is very plain....but nice!
You have seen my wedding reception outfit right?

Yup I saw your wedding outfit, and I know those are a little more comfortable, although yours would have been quite heavy ! I used to have lots of salwaar kameez, but only a couple of the skirt and top ones.

Rachael...yap the red one is the bride....she is wearing moderate amount of jewellery....you should have seen my aunt when she got married. she could not stand up because of the weight of the jewellery!
