Topic: Island Holidays Posted: 14 October 2009 at 8:39pm |
Hi there,
Don't post on here much - more of a lurker in these parts!
But I'm a complete novice when it comes to travelling so thought you all might be able to give some advice.
DP and myself have never been overseas but I'm thinking of surprising him with a trip to one of the islands, where is the nicest to go in your opinion and what time of the year is the best for it?
How would you rate Rarotonga?
It would probably be a week long trip, flexible about when.
It would be just a relaxation holiday...
Feel free to bump any old threads up!
Thanks for any help

Hmmm, one of the back issues of OHbaby! Magazine had a gorgeous Rarotongan escape story. I'll see if I can find it...

Ive been to Numea (sp) Fiji (about 14 times) and Rarotonga and Autaki, I would rate fiji (maybe Im bias?) But if you go to fiji, Denarau is nice but the outer islands are paradise! some are quite run down though (some of the resorts), if you want any finer details of islands etc PM me Im addicted to fiji

I've been to Raro and Fiji and Fiji would get my vote over Raro any day!!! I thought Raro was too much like NZ. Fiji was the perfect holiday!!!! We went to Plantation Island (have been about 3 times there) and it was great! Lots to do, about 4 different resturants to choose from, lots of day activities and the island is big enough to find that little place for just the two of you. Look it up - i would definately recommended going there or anywhere in fiji!

I have only been to Fiji - and highly recommend it! We too went to Plantation Island (We went in August this year) it was just amazing. It was a "family" resort so I'm not sure if you were wanting peace and quiet. But there is so many free activities and things to do!
The outer islands are much nicer than the mainland too.

Hey Sara, nice to see you pop in We went to Vanuatu for our honeymoon, was lovely. I was planning a family holiday next year and thinking Raro but Im also toying with the idea of Plantation Island especially since reading all the rave reviews on here for it
But what a lovely thing to do for you and dh
And we went in March which was way too humid, and if we were to go again we would go in May/June and hopefully it would be abit less humid.
