im struggling to find a sunblock that works for my miss Rhiannon.

i was using hawaii tropics for kids and that just sucked, im now using the the cancer society 30plus (blue bottle), but even after applying the sunblock 1/2 before going out and then just as we are going out...within 10mins she is burnt....

i have tried ringing the cancer society 3 times to talk to them but the phone just rings and rings, so any help on what i should be using would be appreciated...

oh and little miss is a strawberry blonde with very fair skin so burns real easily, just like i do (and yes i have her covered up, and sunhat, but her arms and face still burn)

Have you tried the Neutrogena spray on stuff? My mum bought it for Erin and it works a treat on her, whilst she is not a redhead she is still pretty fair so prone to burning if I am not careful.

My Natasha has to use really good sunscreen because of her disease which can be triggered by the sun and because of her medication (methorexate and steriods)
We use Loreal solar expetise for sun intolerant skin it is 50+ they have both a cream and a spray.

we were also told by our Dr to get sunscreen with titanium dioxide in it.

Sorry I can't be much help I just wanted to suggest that you be careful with some of the higher SPF sunscreens on kids. My dad had a kidney transplant so is on a bunch of immunosuppressant drugs which makes him high risk for skin cancer - he can't go outside without sunscreen, hat, gloves and can't wear short sleeve shirts. Anyway he uses a range of suncreens that are high SPF (45+ is the highest they are allowed to be branded in Aus) and my mum and I both used some on our faces and after about 10-15mins it really burned (both of us - especially around our eyes) so I'd suggest sticking with kid specific ones until she is a bit older. I've also tried the Nutrogena moisturiser with 45+ sunscreen in it and had the same problem so I'd probably avoid those unless you maybe try it on yourself first.

I'd be interested to hear thoughts too as I burn within minutes. I fell asleep in the sun once for half an hour and my chins split open almost down to the bone. Couldn't walk for a week.

Go to the health food shop and see what they have there. There is also an article in the current oh baby mag about sunscreen for kids

Hey Kaz, just wondering did you use the Hawaiian Tropics kids one, or the baby one?

We use the baby faces and tender places one, SPF 50, and its fab. My sister also uses it on her dogs nose as it gets burnt!

You can also get some SPF 40 stuff from the chemist for sensitive skin if that's an issue - made specifically for kids. Sorry don't know the name. But yeah, I've always found most of my friends/family use the pink Hawaiian Tropics baby faces one. It's paed tested and for sensitive skin as well, about $15 a bottle.

We also use Hawaiian Tropic one and have found it awesome.

We spent two weeks in Bali in intense sun. DS would only have sunscreen applied twice a day and came home white and never got burnt. I love the stuff. We just spent two weeks camping and again still white! I use it on my face and love it.
