Topic: Having "one of those days" Posted: 26 September 2007 at 9:19pm |
Today has been a real nothing day. If it wasn't for my housecleaner I doubt any housework would've been done & I wouldn't have gotten out of my pj's.
I have bronchitis again I think (exact symptoms to when I had it earlier in the year) so have an extremely sore throat, & an annoying phlegmy cough! So everytime i swallow it hurts so bad I cringe.
Dh got home around 5:15pm & was being really lovely I was thinking "that goodness for him!". Even though my hair hadn't been done he was telling me how hot i looked & how much he loved me & then cooked dinner .
Now I know why he was being so nice.... a few friends were meeting for drinks tonight as a friend is moving to Oz. So he would've been extra nice to sweeten me up since he knew he'd be going out tonight.
I was sort of wondering why he was being sooo nice to me, but then since having Jett he's been really good & sweet me to so wasn't really out of the ordinary.
But i wished he actually would've told me he was going to go & have drinks, instead of me finding out by his mate turning up to our place (for dinner as well) all dressed up & ready to go. FEEL LIKE I'VE BEEN CONNED!
Also feel like a lonely day since I've just been at home with the kids & haven't had an adult conversation (besides the housecleaner who only annoys me anyway..) so couldn't wait for Dh to get home to spend some adult time with him. But that lasted all of half an hour before he cooked dinner whilst I bathed the kids then his mate turned up, then they left to go out. So feeling lonely & sorry for myself with having this stupid illness & being left at home!!!!
I was looking forward to snuggling up on the couch with Dh & watching t.v. tonight, instead I'm moaning to you guys about it instead. Hope someone's bored enough to respond to my rant .
And I feel like I have no life while DH can come & go as he pleases. If i wanted to go out I'd have to make sure either Dh was going to be home to watch the kids, or organise for my mum to watch them. Dh doesn't even ask me or tell me he's going out, just does it!

Men! They just don't get it
I hope you feel better soon. Maybe just tell your DH he is booked in this Sat (or whatever day suits) to look after the kids while you go and have some time with a friend or even on your own having something nice done (facial?)

Well actually it's my SIL's baby shower on Saturday afternoon so I'll be going to that & Dh will be looking after the 2 oldest (will take Jett with me). But I had to make sure Dh would be home to look after them, as otherwise he's very likely to have organised a game of sport in the afternoon.
But yeah, guys don't get it! It would've been nice if he'd even asked if I wanted to go, as I could've got my mum to come & watch the kids as even Jett would've been ok without me for a couple of hours. And even with feeling sick I would've liked to have gone & been around friends for a few hours to take my mind off feeling sick.
I just feel stink when our mates turn up & take Dh with them & I'm left behind .

been there, done that. And you're probably still low in "happy hormones" with Jett being so little. It's nice that he was considerate about doing dinner etc though, but hopefully you guys can have a chat sometime and schedule a few more breaks every now and then. Take care, have a nice bath or milo or something tonight

This is exactly how I feel at the moment, so big hugs! Even if I could just leave for the night, I dont know what I would do. Am just feeling very bored with life at the moment - need some projects! Hope today is a better day for you.

Me too! Big hugs to all of us mums who constantly shoulder the responsibility for our families, and get forgotten in the process.
Men just don't get it sometimes.... DP just goes about his daily life, and while he would certainly tell me if he was going out, he does things like just goes and has a shower, or goes and gets the paper on a saturday morning without telling me - whereas I have to make sure he's able to watch Joshua before I do anything that involves leaving him.....
Yeah, BIG HUGS TO US COOL MUM'S

Thanks girls, as much as it's not nice feeling like that, I'm glad I'm not the only one & there are understanding girls out there who know where I'm coming from .
Your so right joshie's mum with having to make sure the kids are being watched or in a safe area while you go & shower. It's not a relaxing time when you can't see what they're up too while you're in there. I almost always come out to some disaster! Whereas Dh can do that without a care in the world!

I always get annoyed on the weekend when he just goes outside to muck around in the shed. Which is fine cos I realsie he needs a break on the weekend, but we dont get a weekend anymore, and all I would like is him to ask me if theres anything I need help with first - and I have told him this but he always forgets.

What is a weekend again? Just another 2 days of washing/tidying/changing nappies!
Dh lets me sleep in, but all that means is I have to clean up the mess once I'm up! Then I'm behind for most of the day.

That's the same as us aimeejoy, DH used to almost lives in the shed during the weekends and I never got to spend much weekend time with him. Eventually we decided that one day would be just for family time so at least we get to spend one day a weekend just for family time.

I know, it's so easy for them to think they can still just do what they like, when they like! When I do want to go out myself for whatever, Dh is pretty good & is cool about it, but it doesn't happen nearly as often as he goes out & does his thing. Normally on the weekend it's sport, his mate who is married but no children, is completely selfish & does want he wants on the weekend, whether it's surfing, playing touch or indoor soccor etc so is always inviting my DH out as well. Sometimes Dh turns him down, but not often at enough!
I think Dh thinks if he doesn't go he'll be called "soft" as they like to say!
