When I had my c-section and they were stitching me up I vaguely remember the Doc asking me if I knew I had Poly cystic overies???? Which obviously I didn't.
I managed to forget about it because I was a little preocupied and no-one said anything to me after that.
DH and I were talking about the girls birth today when we remembered. I'm now a little freaked out! But surely if it was important they would have said more right?
Does anyone know anything about it? It sounds pretty dodgy. Anything with the word cystic can't be great lol! I know I should ask my Doc but I'll have to wait till after Xmas and this is freakin me out now!

Hi Lisa,
Sorry I don't know much about the condition, but I didn't want to leave without posting something. I think the cysts mess with hormones produced by the overies. The Southern Cross website has a medical fact sheet on the condition. Have a read hopefully there is some good info on there for you.

Hey Lisa,
Eek dont feel stressed about it - I know easier said than done!
My sister has a mild case of PCOS - so you can get different strengths of it - so I would imagine for your doctor to just say it like that then it musten be a very strong case if that makes sense?

Now that you mention it, I had some cysts present after the birth of Marissa. I was sent for a follow-up scan, I think a few months later and they were gone by then.
I think it is pretty common from all the hormones and they can go away on their own once your body returns to normal.
With that said I would sched an appt with your GP to have it checked out.

I have a mild case of PCOS. Fortunately I don't have many of the symptoms (excessive hairgrowth, overweight etc.) but I have always had irregular periods so that is how I found out.
I think it can make it harder to predict ovulation with an irregular cylce and I think some people don't always ovulate.
I am just TTC now so hopefully will be ok.

hey just thought id put my 5 cents in as i have PCOS, i dont know to what degree but i have all the horrible symptoms: overweight, excess hair and my hair also fell out and i wore a wig for 2 years. However i dont actually have cystic ovaries.
So even though you have cystic ovaries it may not be that bad if you havnt got any of the symptoms, they may have even gone away by now...every case is different and everyone seems to experience diff things with it. But id have to imagine if they were worried about it they would have gone further into it, maybe if your really worried or curious have a chat with your GP.

I have this on both ovaries. My OB/GYN didn't wanted to remove any of my cysts as he was worried I would lose an ovary.
PCOS has 2 parts the cysts and syndrome. The syndrome is to bugger of the 2 as this is the one that makes it hard to have babies.
I have managed to get pregnant 3 times with the cysts and syndrome but I know I am one on my own there as I know some people really struggle to get pregnant with it.

95% have cysts on ovaries its nothing to worry about ...yes it can turn into cancer but very rarely...............i had one ovari removed at 25 and are now pregs again.............when my baby is 1 i will get the other removed due to ovarian cancer but mine is in my genes unfortantly..........most cysts shrink..........if you are getting admon pain then ask doc ofor scan ............ i recommend going to doc to clarify wat you where told to put your mind at ease..........if doc concerned they will give scans etc................good luck

Gosh, dont worry about it at all. If you havent got any annoying problems and you arent trying to fall pregnant its really a nothing! I have it too (apparently) and had regular periods from the day it was diagnosed (ok, werent regular until I saw the gynaecologist...murphy's law). I have had NO problem fallng pregnant (in fact in the last 2 years I have ovulated 4 times and been pregnant 3 of those....eeek!
