Topic: Baby Shower Question? Posted: 23 August 2007 at 8:37am |
Just want to know peoples thoughts are on this as talked to DH last night and he was of no use!
We always have a work baby shower, so that involves about 20 ladies from work - great fun and no outsiders.
As I don't know the sex of my baby, that means 20 presents of white stuff and toys, which I think is more than enough. Also, as a side note its not about the gifts for me, its about hanging out with people who have supported you thru your pregnancy.
I am now in two minds about having one with family and friends. I am thinking I would prefer a meet the baby at 6 weeks with family and friends? Then its a wee thank you rather than a gift opportunity.
I hope this makes sense as its sounds all jumbled and that people get what I am meaning.
Thoughts please?

you might have a friend or family memeber who wants to throw you a baby shower though. I would see if someone offers, if they do then cool say yes you would love it and if no one offers then do your 6 week idea (which i think is a great idea) I just know that when i was pregnant with kobe my best friend couldnt wait to throw me a baby shower and would probably have been upset if I said no.

I agree with my2angels. The 6 week meet and greet is a lovely idea but if someone offers...

when would you have a baby shower if you did have one? maybe you could wait closer to the time and see how you feel?
i love the 6wk idea, it's a great one! if that is what you want, go for it!

There are no "rules" so just do what you want!
I had a baby shower but it was more of a get-together and come round and eat food... I'm not really into the games and stuff. And it possibly would have been better to wait until 6 weeks. Damnit, wish I'd thought of that!
The only thing is that you might not have the energy to organise one at 6 weeks. But if someone else can do it and you just show up, then GREAT!!

Although, it's kinda fun to have a baby shower to look forward to when your life "ends" two weeks before baby is due Just go with whatever you want!

My mum and my brothers partner have organised mine for me, we are having it on the 8th Sept, and as far as I know its just an afternoon tea at my place. Mum is taking care of all the food etc, so all I have to do is provide the location. i am not into games etc, so dont think we will be doing that. There are about 15-20 us I think! Am a bit worried that it will be a bit naff...but am sure it will be cool!!

If I had one it would be about 6 weeks out which is good timing but just think one is enough really and with work always doing one and that being about 20 people..I can see myself being slightly over it by the time the next one is to happen. work one is just an afternoon tea and its always good fun.
Just kinda like the idea of a meet the baby and was kinda hoping that may stop some visitors before that and kinda does a few in one go!

I think it's up to you what you want to do I think your 6wk idea is really neat.
I chose not to have one has we already had loads of stuff my mum went crazy as did my SIL so didn't heaps of stuff that either would never could used or have double ups I also don't really like being the center of attention.
