So I got one of these for the nursery, but haven't got any toys to put in it ! The ones I did have (and there are a few, believe me) are filling up the little shelves on one side of the room - and I'm not sure what to do about this net. I'd feel dumb taking it down as I got hubby to help me put it up especially, but am a bit conflicted I guess about trying to find a whole bunch of toys (as cheaply as possible) that will essentially be JUST for decoration.

Any ideas ladies ??

(Don't worry, I've been scouring Trade Me for inspiration, but nothing has jumped out at me yet... )

With ours we went for separation technique - soft toys, teddies etc. went in the net cos they didn't get caught and other's in toybox or shelves - course at first it's probably mostly soft ones, but anyway more will start coming pretty soon I would guess as you get closer to due date. Have you had a baby shower yet - that might yield some - not that that's a reason to have one but it is a nice bonus

Well all I've really got so far are soft toys, and as mentioned in the first post they're filling up the shelves on one side of the room (that aren't really any good for anything else, but would be too much hassle to take down). I'm not planning on having a baby shower simply because I have only a small amount of close friends and only small 'pockets' of them actually know each other - or for example, two of my girlfriends are police officers, so shift work makes things a little trickier. Not too heartbroken over that prospect though, and I may still come up with a solution yet ! *scratches head* I was thinking round things, last night... like mini beach balls, but plush ones or something...

maybe you could fill the shelves up with other things like photos in frames, ornaments, money box, or a lamp? you could get some really cool bookends and fill a shelf up with books??
jack has inherited all the soft toys of mine that i could'nt bring myself to give away....he has a net on the wall filled with them and also one of those chains that hang from the wall which is also filled up with teddies

Ah ha ! Almost forgot about the ornaments thing, the ones I still have are still packed away, but might look at putting th ose on the shelves instead... although I know bubs isn't going to really give a flying rat's when she first comes home, I will just have to get over feeling jittery with breakables in the babys room LOL

Any books that I've got are going to go on the bookshelf that's already in there, and most of the teddy bears that I kept are at my mums, there aren't very many of them anymore - whereas I *used* to have quite a large collection (40+) then gave them all to womens hospice / shelter.

you could say it is for toys that will come later. And believe me, after you have baby, there WILL be a later!
