What would you do?

I'm in Wellington city this Sat morning, I'm fly down Fri night for an event and fly out 3pm Sat.

I really want to see Te Papa, but is there anything else I should check out in the city? Markets?

Hi

Te Papas good, and if you're into museums the Wellington City and Sea is really good. Its on Queens Wharf. It's a nice walk along the water front to Te Papa from there too.

If it's a nice day you can hire a sea kayak and cruse around the habour too. The place that has the Kayaks also has indoor rock climbing as well.

Wellingtons great to just have a wander around too. Could check out Cuba Street and Botanical Gardens. The cable car up to the gardens is really cheap.

There is a good food market, but its on Sundays. There use to be some good ones but they've been demolished/have nothing good in them.

I assume that since you're going to an event that you don't have any kids with you? If so Capital E is great at the moment, heaps of cool shows on for the school holidays.

Hey Jade.  Definitely have a wander around the waterfront if it's a nice day.  There are some lovely restaurants, bars and cafes along there.  I'd also meander over to the old bank arcade and have a look at the shops in there.  A trip up the cable car is good if the weather's nice (there's a great view over the city from the top) and if you have  the time you can walk back into town again through the gardens and the cemetry (it's a lovely walk) or if times short you can just grab the cable car back down again.

Thanks!!

We had a lovely morning down there, brunch in Chews Lane, bought the most gorgeous ruby-red, velvet ballet flats on Willis St, and got terribly nauseous on the rides at Te Papa!! Not a good idea after a night on the town!

Glad you had a nice time. What rides at Te Papa! Have they got new ones?
