Kiya came out of her room this morning complaining of a sore throat. Further questioning showed she felt like "something was stuck" and it didn't make her feel nauseous in any way... Nat and I decided there was a good chance she was coming down with a cold - and an equally good chance it was all in her head!

We decided to keep her home today... so if she is getting sick we can nip it in the bud, and if she is fine, she will learn that "sick days" are no fun! By 9am she was her normal self... a day at home won't hurt her but I think Kiya's got the idea that its not much fun when you are home sick. I've made her sit on the couch all morning, watching tv and "resting". I didn't even let her dance to the Wiggles! I'm going to make her have an afternoon sleep too.

Hehehe... I think she'll want to go to school tomorrow!

LOL - Sean tried that one too. A day of being in bed only able to get up for toilet breaks pushed him to the limit - he was back at school in no time!

Hopefully she'll still feel comfortable coming up to us and telling us when she feels unwell, but now she knows that school = fun day, home = rest.

Hehehe... Kiya went to bed for a sleep at 1:15, and I told her she could not get up before 2pm (she has a digital clock by her bed, and she understands where the hours are). She's just come out from her room now, wanting me to make a sun-catcher with her (kit left from her birthday). Here's how our conversation went:

Kiya: "Can we make this please, Mum?"
Me: "No Kiya. You are home from school sick, and you don't do fun things like that when you are home to rest."
Kiya: "But Mum, I'm not sick anymore! I had a rest and I feel much better!"
Me: "No Kiya. You are home to rest. You can read or colour in in your room now please..."
Kiya: "... and resting is reading or colouring in or watching TV."
Me: "That's right Kiya. Now off you go. You can read or colour in out here, up the table, if you'd like.

She's now colouring in quietly... lesson learned!

That' so funny.
Home sick days here are no tv, no computer, no playstation (there's no computer or playstation on school days anyway) and all of the day (or at least school hours) in bed with a school like lunchbox and lots of rest.
Sean still lets us know when he genuinely isn't well - but those days are as above as well and he gets the rest he needs
