Topic: Throwing up...once a day?? Posted: 22 May 2008 at 8:11pm |
My son had the tummy bug about 4-5 days ago, and went 1 day with no sicking up, so I thought..YES the bug has gone...but last night he chundered up at dinner time, and he sicke up again today around 4.00pm...so he is only doing it once a day since he was sick....anyone else had similar with their child? I am taking him to the doc on Monday if it hasn't resolved itself by then....

Could be Rotavirus or like virus, that has a long shelf life and can return if you don't wash your hands and do good hygiene techniques (sometimes it is bad luck though so not reflecting on your hygiene at all!). I would keep an eye on him till you take him to the Dr's, watch him for signs of dehydration, keep him topped up on clear fluids and and stick to same old same old foods just in case it is an allergy.
Best of luck and welcome to Oh Baby

Yep, my daughter does this every time she has a vomiting bug
I have researched it as I started to get worried - she would play happily during the day and then vomit in the evening. Went on for quite a while.
It did eventually go away though, and we just had to wait it out.
Get his ears checked too - last time the virus ended with an ear infection and we had to get antibiotics.

Yep mine did this after one of her vomiting bugs too! I was worried and I'm pretty sure I posted on here as well at the time. It lasted about 5-7 days and then she just stopped. I thought maybe her gut got a bit sensitive from all the vomiting and minor things could just trigger it- too active, eating anything a bit dodgy or eating too much. It did just go on its own though, I just tried to keep her food bland, lots of little meals- didn't let her eat too much and had a few quiet days.

Hi, Hannah does this too. She seems fine and I give her normal food (by that I just mean spuds and sausages for dinner, not chips or anything) and then she's off again. It seems to me that she has a weak stomach and needs 24 hours of BRAT food only after the last throw up.
BRAT=bananas, rice, apples, toast

Yep we are going through this at the moment, went to afterhours this morning as I was worried about her hydration, and they said yes probably rotavirus and yes to carry on as we are. Told me to steer clear of meat, dairy and dried fruit, but the only thing she will drink in any quantity is milk!!!!! So she is on 1-4 watered down milk at the moment, to make it white but keep it as clear as possible. So far to day, no power chucks from the back of the car, over my left arm and windscreen and only 2 poooey nappies, but who knows what will happen tomorrow.
Hope things settle for you soon

We had when Lucy had a tummy bug also. You'd think you were just getting to that 24 hour bug free stage and then she'd throw up again.
To make matters worse though the diarrhoea lasted a month, but she'd only have that intermittently too. e.g. a 48 hour break.
