Topic: YAY!!!!! I missed you all Posted: 29 July 2006 at 6:49pm |
Hi ya ladies
It feels like ages since I was last able to log on here and have missed it heaps!!!!
Things are going fantastic with Caitlin
I'm feeling 110% as we have her sleeping for 5 straight hours at night in her own room!
We were lucky enough to pick up the breast feeding straight away and I have been feeding her every 2.5 hours during the day and evening and then letting her tell me when she is hungry after her 2am feed. We're so lucky that she likes to have a schedule just like her Mum & Dad.
The first few days home were a real struggle, at first our lil' madam wouldn't sleep anywhere except in OUR BED! I was terrified we'd roll on her or something so we tried to sort that out pretty quick. We then had her sleeping in a basinette at the foot of our bed - a word of advice from me DON'T DO THIS! You wake up to every single stiring sound and sigh thinking it will be the prelude to full on tanty (which 9 times out of 10 it isn't) and no one gets any sleep and you end up a sleep deprived mess! Just our experience on this.
We now feel that we are really enjoying our precious little girl (now that us parents can keep our eyes open for more than 10 minutes a time LOL)
Jess, Jax & Robyn - Your girls are all absolutely gorgeous! Congrats to you all
Hope everyone else is well too
Toni

Wa good to have you back. good to hear everything is going well with bub's she sounds like a dream.
As far has having baby in our room we really don't have a choice as we have my BIL living with us and I can't put bub's in with Alan.

Hey Toni, glad to see you are back !
I know EXACTLY what you mean about the sleeping in their own room thing, that was the problem for in when I was in hospital (since I was in for a bit longer than normal) - every little noise Erin made kept me up. Now she is sleeping anywhere from 5-8 hrs through the night, which is great ! It's definitely heaps better being at home aye, even if it is a struggle at first.
Anyway, looking forward to more news and updates whenever you get the chance - oh, and maybe some more photos?
Love Jax, Roland & Erin

good to have you back and great to hear things are going well. I think routine and sleep are such a huge part of making you feel human again and actually able to enjoy your baby. I totally agree about the sleeping in the room, but in saying that we have Addison in with us but only cos we had the hugest every power bill last month so now I cant afford to heat so many rooms in the house plus she sleeps through mostly anyway but the minute it warms up she will be in her own room.
Have you posted some pictures?

Robyn - there are a couple of photos under a thread I posted on Toni's behalf, titled "Update on Caitlin from Toni"... (I think!)

Yay Toni! Glad to see you back and good to know things are going well for you!!
I think to you've reinforced our decision to have Maddie in HER room from the start....I could see myself waking at every little noise too!

Good to see you back, Toni! Congrats again on the arrival of Caitlin...
and I totally agree about Baby being in their own room as soon as possible! I had Kiya in with me for the first 6 months and it was really hard... I was so sleep-deprived as I was the only one who could afford to miss out at night, and in order to keep her quiet she often ended up in my bed, which she decided was better than her own!

Just reading through these posts - you women are amazing!! It took us six weeks (well, me anyway) to feel like I was even starting to feel confident in understanding and anticipating Joshuas needs. Things are fantastic now, but those first 6 weeks were pretty hard for me. Well done, you are all fantastic And your little girls are beautiful.

YAY welcome home toni
I agree with the waking to every little noise but ours came from the monitor and now we just sleep through unless an alarm were to go off or she starts screaming lol just having issues trying to get her to sleep in her own bed and not ours or in the same room we are in. Proving to be very hard!
Saw pics of ur little lass and shes soo cute! Well done
