Topic: 30th Birthday Posted: 19 February 2009 at 10:33pm |
Matt turns 30 in the middle of march and I have NO idea what to get him >.< Maybe some of you can help.
He doesnt wear jewellery other than his wedding ring, he doesnt wear a watch. He's got all the gadgets that he'd ever want. He's not into extreme sport, we cant afford to spend the night somewhere other than home. We're going to be doing a dinner with the family because he doesnt want a party. Makes it all rather difficult :(

well from kids, you could give him an updated photo, in a handmade photo frame or a painting (like handprints and footprints or something), this is assuming of course he works at a desk.
My DH is the same, in regards to jewellery , etc, so how about getting him a dvd or a cd, we have ended up giving DH book vouchers and bunnings vouchers for the past couple of years, as its easier for him to just go pick what he wants, and have us pay for it...lol

oh he hates the zoo :/ lol!
Thomas's present to him is gonna be no problem at all - its just me thats the problem. I kinda wanted it to be a bit more special than just a CD as it's an important birthday and all. He's got all the CD's he wants really anyway. He's a massive Meatloaf fan, and he's got all the albums ARGH

Hmmm, really hard one! My DH just turned 30 and I also had a terrible time coming up with a present.
I ended up getting him a really flash tent - luckily he is into the outdoors so that was a good present I could get.
My 30th is in August, and DH has got me tickets to see Cirque du Soleil. It is in Auckland though.
Do you guys own your own house? One idea I liked when Jackson was born was a native tree. You can buy them boxed up and then plant it in the garden together. Kind of a lasting gift. I'll hunt down the website if you are interested.
What about a portrait sitting for a nice family photo? Is he into massage? Swimming with the dolphins in Akaroa? Wine trail together?

yea see he's not into any of that at all! it makes it so hard. Wine trail wouldnt work either cuz you cant take a baby on a wine trail and theres no-one available to babysit. I think ill just go put a new computer monitor on the GE card cuz there was a hint that he might like a new one at some stage. Least then he cant say i didnt get him anything. damned males, so hard to buy for
He's gonna have a heck of a time buying for my 30th in October as well. im just gonna make him a list lol!

Have you looked round for any concerts coming up that he might be into? Or, if there is something he really enjoys doing you could organise a day of his favourite things?
Otherwise a night out together?...the way to a man's heart is through his stomach after all
Sorry not much help, good luck though

Are you a bit wizzy with a computer or do you have a mate that is? Why not make a dvd sideshow to music of wedding photos/kids photos/photos of you guys together etc? Relatively inexpensive & personal =)

I know you want a 30th to be a special present that he can keep, but I often buy people magazine subscriptions- my DH is into fishing, music and cooking so it makes it easy there are heaps of mags about those things! They are also the gift that keeps on giving, as you get them for a whole year.
Other cool presents are photobooks (coffee table books made up of your photos that you can make online)
Good luck

Theres a shop here in auckland (they may be able to do it somewhere in your area) that you can take a photo into and they can put it onto canvas. I was thinking of doing it for xmas for my partner one year but the photo we had of us that was the nicest also had the focus in the wrong place so when it was blown up we became a bit fuzzy.
Or buy him a LCD key ring and upload all the photos onto it. Buy him an ipod if you think he'd use it and upload all his favourite music to it and any photos so its all ready to go for him, you can even have them engraved

haha! Sound just like my DH. When we got engaged I wanted to get him something memorable to mark the occasion. I suggested a watch or similar, he suggested a Playstation 2
