I just finished vacumning the house and there are so many yukky spots from spills etc! Just wondering what everyones fave cleaners are and if any one has used a professional carpet cleaning service?
I cleaned all the carpets last year using a bissel shampooer and it was great but the friend I borrowed it from doesn't have it anymore :(
I will watch this thread with interest as we are moving soon and I want to clean the carpet at the new house. Have been wondering what the Rug Doctors are like
We had an incident in August with a guest last year, he got very drunk and ... fouled the carpet So I made him buy a Rug Dr to clean the carpets. I was very happy with the results, it got out his stains and the lingering ones we had from Olivia's food droppings. I'm going to do it again before winter as it is so cheap that it's a good idea to do 6 monthly while Miss is still a toddler.
DS got perminent marker on cream carpet 3 days befor we were to move out. Dab on and off with white spirits and there was a shadow of it left. We then called Jayes carpet cleaners and they got it all up..they were very proffesional and friendly and did a great job.
for spot cleaning we use cavalear or friend (DH
s father has worked in carpet sales all his life so this is straight from the horses mouth)
I always use a professional carpet cleaner, and mostly used Jae's Carpet Cleaners (cos I used to work in the office for them and know they are professional and do a great job). I sometimes have used Enviro Clean & Restoration but Jae's clean does come up better.
I would highly recommend a Rug Doctor. I just used one last week as we had some pretty big milk stains in our newish carpet and all the stains have now gone. It costs around $60 approx to hire one and that also includes 1 litre of cleaner plus a $15 bond which you get back. It has rejuvinated our carpet and looks brand new again which I am really pleased about.
Thanks for your post millie, my DH it at home now cleaning the carpet with a rug doctor so gald that you are happy with the end clean. Hope mine looks good when I get home afta work.
We've had our capets done professionally twice with Jae's Carpet Service - once when we had a flood and once when our hot water cylinder burst - both insurance jobs and the insurance company highly recommended them. We got them to take out a couple of stains at the same time which cost about $90 (they use a special chemical) and they came out perfectly. I couldn't recommend them highly enough as their service was absolutely fantastic with follow up phone calls, etc. We were so impressed as they were only young guys that did it but they were so polite and helpful too. We phoned them up to let them know how helpful they'd been.
I've used a rug doctor once before for just a general clean and that seemed to do a good job but I suggest if you're looking to get out stains (especially if you don't know what they are) get a professional to do it.
My carpet has tuned out wonderful we brought this house just over a year ago and wow what black crap came out of the carpet DH kept the waste water for me to see lovely aye Most of the carpet was dry the next morning but we did have the dehumidifier going all night though. So really happy with the end result
I think I might hire a rug doctor - especially while teh weather is so warm and the carpet will dry off quickly.... doesnt sound like anyones had a bad experienece!
Our carpet took a few hours to dry as it wasn't a very warm day. We are very happy with the results and will probably hire a rug doctor maybe once a year to get rid of milk stains etc.
