Topic: one step forward... Posted: 14 July 2006 at 1:01pm |
and about a million back is how I'm feeling at present.
WQe've JUST got settled into Gisborne. Huge power bill and phone bills have just been paid, jake is sleeping in his big boy bed during the day.....and our septic tank goes funny.
Guy is here now and says that some systme is screwed and will take around amonth or so to fix, and cost $5,000 (of which we don't have to pay - parents will as it's their house), but in the meantime, we have to move out. We can't use the toilet, put any water down the drain - washing machine, bath, shower, doing dishes, etc is out. so where can we go? It looks like we might be living with Lewis' nana, which I sooooo don't want to do. I mean she's nice, but you'll understand I'm sure the feeling when you are at elderly in-laws, all their nice things on display and you have to constantly tell your child off for being curious. And so we'll have to lug all the kids stuff over, as well as toys, GRRRRRRRR, I'm sop pissed off, and have no scapegoat to vent my anger on. No one to blame and get angry with. lewis' mum doesn't even know yet and I'm just assuming she'll want to do the system. The guy says if it isn't done the house will be condemned.

geez 5grand to fix sounds steep when you can get a new one for about 6grand and that would only take a couple of days to put in.
Sounds horrible Liz. i hope it gets sorted quickly for you and that you dont have to move out.

Rang the MIL tonight and everything is getting done...just when! we have to get resource consent blah blah blah....
"luckily" they had put in a long-drop for emergencies! Lewis is trying to say what an "adventure" it all is, and how with candles, cause there is no light, it will be "romantic"....yes, cause going to the toilet...in a long drop.....above god know what creepy crawlies...turns me on.
Also, just got into the fuzzibunz that arrived.....but can't wash them! so back to disponsables we go. Lucky they are on the smallest clip acorss for taine so will take him a while tpo pudge out.
We went over to his Nanas for a bath which was okay, but not for long periods of time. Monday hopefully will see the time frame we are looking at.

oh my goodness. You know you could just get a big bucket or bin to put under your outlet pipe (disconnect it) from the bath. then empty it around the garden. You could also do this for your washing too. Lots of people do this in summer for their plants. Would be no health concerns as its only bath water etc. Hey long drops arnt too bad, been there done that. Hope they time frame is short Liz

No idea. His uncle thinks that the effluent thingy is tilted and needs to be...untilted(?) so maybe thats the problem. I have no idea. They emptied the septic tank last night so at least we can use the loo now!
