Hi Ladies
I have been searching online for what feels like hours, trying to find somewhere for me and DH to stay next weekend for our wedding anniversary.

We dont really want to spend any more than $350 for the weekend (two nights)
We were thinking either the wairarapa or paraparaumu/waikanae, but could probably travel a bit further for the right place.

Does anyone have any recommendations? It seems all the ones I have come across are big 3 bedroom houses or $200 a night hotels!

Why don't you try www.wotif.com I just booked through there last weekend and got a 1 bedroom apartment for $140 a night instead of $240 a night so it might be worth a try??

Oh, Kapiti is nice - although I am sure The Wairapa is nicer
Had a quick look at motels on TravelBug and there seemed to be a few nice (not really fancy) places in Kapiti around $120-$150, no sure if they are available that weekend though. Copperfield looked nice although I have never stayed in any of the places around here.

We are looking at going into Wellington for our Anniversary (18th) We often go in there as there's is so much more to do and we can often find some nice cheaper hotels. Probably not what you are into living so close though

I know this a little bit more than you wanted to spend, but it is perfect for a romantic weekend, it's so lovely and relaxing:
Brackenridge

Martinborough is a great for a weekend away.

Although I just remembered, typing this, that I'm going to Martinborough next Sunday for a concert - so accomodation could be a bit tight

Ohhhh Brackenridge is awesome (though a little pricey!). We stayed there for a wedding. Absolutely beautiful! It feels like you're a million miles away. So quiet and relaxing.

We're staying at BK's Chardonnay shortly. It's in Masterton. It looks nice on the website! Google it.

I've no idea how to add a link, but DH and I stayed here http://www.holidayhouses.co.nz/properties/4131.asp for his birthday a couple of years ago and it was lovely. Its at Riversdale beach in the Wairarapa and has a private spa pool. We had a wonderful time there Its definitely on my list to go back again, but I've got to find someone to feed my menagerie!

We have stayed at this cottage Granny McDonald's Cottage

and it is lovely.

If you are really splashing out this place is great Petit Hotel

It is just behind the Martinborough Hotel.

When I was looking for accommodation in the Wairarapa I contacted the tourist information office, they found us a lovely B&B just outside of Masterton for less than $100 a night.

Or check out the central Wellington hotels - James Cook or the Duxton they often have cheap weekend rates, that are quite reasonable.  Its great to be able to stay in town and be able to walk everywhere.

Have you checked the back of your till receipts for any specials.

I work in a hotel and accommodation next weekend is pretty tight in Wellington city for both Friday and Saturday. How ever if my hotel is full and I have to stay in town we stay at either the central city apartments or the able tasman. Both are close and the able tasman have got brand new rooms and so are central citys.
