Jesse's mate at work did think he got it done on Easter weekend pretty straight forward you need a few days to recover as you could imagine.
And 3-4 hundred dollars and takes around 30mins.

My friend (blondie on here), her DH has had it done. I will get her to post on this thread for you.
Janine's (mum2paris) Mike has had it done.

yep rod had it done about 4 weeks after char was born. Cost about $260 but the other guy who does it cost $700 so I beleive the cost varies. Also, there is a councelling session they need to go to first, and I *think* they like the men to be over 30 and have had children. Took about 30 mins and he was tender for about 24 hours afterwards, and "careful" for a few days after that. Brusing was GROOOOOSSSSS, lol.

I wish Willie would get it done! They refuse to tie my tubes coz of my age (despite me being about to have baby number 4!), but he would be a prime candidate for the snip. If only he would agree...

A friend's DH had his done recently, not sure about the cost but he said it didn't hurt when they did it and he was sore for the next day, but that's about it. He's under 30 but they have two kids - not sure about any restrictions?
DH said he'd consider it after a year or so. We don't plan on having any more kids (but if we end up getting pregnant it won't be the end of the world) and it seems the best option.

DH had it all set up to do after baby no 2 but I wasn't quite ready to give the go ahead so delay a bit telling DH it was due to finances and then talked to him about my reasons of having no3. Luckily he could see where I was coming from and agreed try for no 3.

lolol, let this be a warning to you, te he he
seriously first of all make sure you REALLLLLLLY do want it done, ie maybe wait till your youngest is about 1 and be sure that you're not gonna get to that stage and go "geez i wish we hadn't had that done let's get it reversed...." (ok ok so not everyone is like me but still...)
Mike had it done in October 2006, he was 24yrs old at the time, and Ayja was about 16mths old, we got it done privately through a place here that does them, very good, about $400 all up.
Consultation was easy as, it was our usual doctor anyway, Mike asked about it once expecting to get the "you're too young blah blah speech" nope, the doctor said yep, when and where etc, gave mike the pamplet about it and told him to book in a time once we were sure. I knew he didn't really want anymore kids at that time because of the trouble we'd had when ayja was little, so i thought yep ok, that i could live with that, and well, i think that was the wrong decision.... we should have waited and talked it through much much more than we did.
he got it done, takes about 45 minutes, they do a local anasthetic, in the area where they cut, then as they lift each tube out the inject into the tubes an anasthetic too, which mike said was really painful at the time, i held his hand and watched him go thru a fair amount of pain as they make a small incision above the pen-15, (lol, i just can't write it!)pull out the tubes, cut a segment out of them, burn the ends and stitch them too then put them back in. (hehe, revenge for childbirth, lol) How anything survives that i do not know! And yep he got bruising on one side the worst, which was the side he said hurt most and he'd had a little bleed apparently, he was just a bit tender for a few days, had to make sure the kids didn't do their run and jump on daddy trick.
Anyway, long story short, endless darn samples later, (usually takes around 3 samples to come clear we were told) they were actually increasing in number, by the time we got our last samples back the count had gone from trace amounts, to small amounts, to moderate amounts of sperm seen. This co-incided with a small oopsie that we didn't think much of at the time. Hence, i get to cycle day 40 and think hang on what's going on and at the end of march 2007 find myself about 6 weeks along according to doctor. Anyways, that's how we ended up with our angel baby who's heart stopped just a day or so before we went for an early scan, at which stage i was 8wks and 5 days, to double check dates as my HCG levels when i got them first done had suggested i was about 9 weeks instead of 6.
After all that was over, we decided to yes, try again, that was june/july. the end of that month nothing had happened (and i am famous for getting preg first pop) so off we went for tests again to finally find them clear....9 months in total since it was done.
I seriously now wish it hadn't been done, because despite mike not really wanting another, i think a large part of that comes down to also that it would be far too much work for his liking to then pay thru the nose to get it reversed, with the possibility of it not even being succesful, or having to take supplements etc, all the while our kids are getting older and we wouldn't want a large age gap. So that's us..... I wish it wasn't but it is.
Advice to anyone who wants to get hubby done, is to wait a year, then see if you still really want it, cos it's hard to change your mind once it's done.
The plus side now of course is that we don't have to worry about all that other guff anymore...
 which is lots of fun.

Yay Janine, that's great news! For the rest of your family at least!
And yep, they will seriously not do them. My m/w suggested getting the Mirena in for five years by which stage they will prob agree coz baby will be at school and I will be early 30's. But I do find it kinda shocking that they won't do it now!

When I went in to see about gettting my tubes done, I was days away from delivering Charlotte and wanted to make sure that if I had to have a c section, they would tie them then and there. They only agreed to do me (almost 32 then I think?) cos I was about to have #2 and had a teen step as well. Weird. A friend of mine who is same age as me has no kids and wants to get hers tied and they won't touch her. I think its because technically vasectomy reversal is easier than tubal reversal? I'm all for still getting my tubes done as well, i am DONE with children and absolutely do NOT want to have ANY MORE.

I lost my hair every time I had the chop.
I dont like being bald. I prefer a full headed figure.
I think I might grow my hair out this time. Mine costs around...oooo...$12? Something like that anyway.
Ha! it had me in stitches last time.

Another point of view. DH and I never wanted kids, I'm mid 30s, he's nearly 40. Every time he asked his doctor for info, as we wanted to make an informed decision, they refused to even discuss it on the basis of MY age. I can't use most types of contraception, and it was very stressful for us constantly worrying about an oopsie (I would have had to terminate due to medical issues at the time which for me is not an option) so after a lifetime of not wanting kids, we were very sure we wanted a permanent solution. This was something we discussed over 2-3 years. We had booked it when I got cold feet, and we deferred it for about 6 months to give ourselves more time to be certain. We took the precaution of freezing sperm (costs $180 per year) but due to a communication issue, I thought we had a lot more on ice that we actually do. About 6 months later, we then simultaneously changed our minds, a huge surprise to both of us, but we thought we'd be fine because of our storage backup position. Turns out that we have just enough for a couple of attempts and IUI and then IVF (which I'm a high risk candidate for, and we have to go private). So we've now gone through the very expensive process of having a reversal with a small chance of success. People tend to think that vasectomy reversal is always successful, but that is not the case at all. We've had to weigh up the costs of a reversal knowing that we probably will have to pay for IVF as well, and all the time we're saving, I'm getting older. Our hopes of two children are fading, and we'll be grateful to even have one at this rate.
The reversal is way worse that the original chop, way more painful and has to be done under a general. DH didn't find the $400 vasectomy bad at all, more uncomfortable than painful. It hurt him more in the abdomen where the tubes are pulled, more groin pain than in the testicular area.
I don't understand why the doctors don't recommend sperm storage as an option before undertaking vasectomies, but it is something I'd recommend you consider as it's a relatively low cost compared to a reversal, and gave us peace of mind that it wasn't as final as a vasectomy would suggest.

I am 99% sure I don't want anymore. DH would have one more if i said yup. We have decided he is to have the snip instead of me (I have had so may ops as it is) BUT .. we have done nothing more so far. Because I am not 100% sure and Dh although happy not to have more would go for one more as well.
Now speam freezing sounds good option - perhaps for a few years till you definately know you have made the right decision.

No we have talked about it and this is what we both want to do, I mean for DH.
The thought of me being preggers again terrifies me. I hated being pregnant with Zoe, and if she was 10lbs 10oz, what will the next baby be? I was huge, and carrying zoe around in my tummy was really hard work and caused alot of stress on my body.
