Ok so that is slightly more than what I had at my first birthday party almost 24 years ago. My first birthday was also my parents wedding reception so all combined together was nice. Andrew's first birthday was his families and 3 friends and we had a BBQ lunch, then Andrew opened his massive pile of present. 2nd birthday we went out with the families and his friend Holly and her mum and we went out for dinner. Next year i'm cheating and going to McDonalds with 3 friends from his daycare. I'll have a 2 month old and I can't be bothered doing anything big.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

that's sort of what i was thinking, i mean, mikeys probably going to be more interested in the wrapping paper than what he's actually being given. we'll probably just get him a new toy and some things he actually needs.

I have so many cake ideas I cant choose. Was going to make a farm animal one - have even started making icing animals. I must say, they have turned out pretty cool! But am now thinking about making a girlier one

I can't waaaaait to design Han's cake. Don't quite know what to do tho... her current obsession is Barney, but I can't stand him.
Oooo actually she loves strawberry shortcake too... maybe I do something like that...?
I have no idea what to do about pressies. I feel like I should get her something sizeable but can't justify spending heaps.

we got jake a tricycle for his birthday and some duplo that i got on sale (was $44 - down to $19), and a dvd. I've been saving all year for the boys xmas and birthday. And Nikki, most of the presents are for Adults really anyway. if you got what Hannah REALLY wanted, you'd buy her some boxes, a couple of empty tubes, and maybe a couple of skeens of cellophane...oh and some glue and pens and tell her to write on the walla.
Taine would be satisfied with some bits of bark and some bits of gravel. pity he's getting a little bike.

hahaha Yeah. Han's favourite thing is a pot, wooden spoon and a potato... maybe I get her a set of pans? That way it saves having to do it when she moves into her first flat!

Maya's first was mostly for the adults although we hired her daycare centre for the day so there was plenty for the kids to do. Her second was a bbq at home with again mostly my friends and their older kids. Both years the parties cost more than $500 all up plus presents.
When she turned 3 she had 12 friends come to McD's, it cost me $120, they fed the kids, th ekids played in the playground, and then I went home and left the mess behind. Couldn't have been easier. Next year she wants to go to Lollipops coz she's seen the TV ads, but we'll see a bit closer to the time.
Her first b'day pressie from me and Willie was a greenstone carving, it was reasonably expensive but I wanted her to have a keepsake. We'll do the same for the twins. When she was 2 she got a trampoline, and this year a bike.
We're not doing a big Xmas this year, mostly because we just moved house and I was disgusted when I realised how many toys Maya has accumulated, she doesn't NEED anything. So I have done a layby at KMart, she is getting a Leappad, Hungry Hippo game and a few small bts and pieces and the twins are getting a couple of small toys each.
Oh and they're each getting a new outfit...

i feel really stink that i never did anything for tobys first birthday....but i figure i have a while to come up with a good story to tell him as to why. gabriel had an afternoon tea with mostly rellies and for his second his cousins came over and they had fish and chips on the lawn. that was a party in itself with gabriel, five cousins and his half brother.
we are all set for xmas here, a cars ride on for toby and a red trike for gabriel... i cant wait. i think that both boys will be into it this year. esp gabriel. but his birthday is the month before so hopefully hes not all jaded from that. not that he will be having a party - just presents.

Yah well Its like tradition in Hubby's side of family to do things BIG!! At our Wedding we had 450 people and we catered for all of them....it was massive.
Dont get me wrong Zaara is not getting big parties like this every year. From now on it will be small with her Play centre/kindy or school friends!!
Because Zaara is the first Grandchild for both families....the grand parents wanted to do it big!! Atish's Mum more than my parents...
I bought Zaara a trike, some small toys and a play and learn house!! For Xmas I only got her a fancy Pool from KMart. She has really fancy cloths for her birthday from US so.....I have loads of choices (Thank God I dont have to buy). I will post all pics once I am done.
Zaara is wearing a white and purple dress and all the decor is of the same color!

hey Aimee, was just looking back and I think Hannah's party is on EXACTLY the same day as Jake's. we are having afternoon tea as well. My dad, step-mum, nephew and...Maddisyn (cousin's daughter's adopted out baby, who was abused by adoptive family, then fostered out, now adopted by my cousin - her grandmother)...are coming. And Jake's little "friend" Kaea (actually his cousin and I say "friend" because actually Jake loves him to bits but Kaea is...well, terrrified of him. And maybe some friends from playcentre. we are having ablues clues there. have downloadad stuff from Nickjr website.
