well Little Miss has decided that she is the BOSS...
It all started last week when David and I slept in the lounge (in front of the TV!) and Arna woke up during the night so David put her on the little fold out couch (kids one) for her to sleep on for the night... Well now she won't go to bed / sleep unless its on the couch in the lounge with the TV on.
We have put her in a big bed (was in her cot without the sides on), brought a new duvet cover etc, changed her room around etc and she still wants that silly couch (which is now in our wardrobe!!)
It is 10pm and she is still fighting to go to bed, took 3 hours for her to go down for her afternoon sleep and I am about to tear my hair out!!
Any discipline / persuading things that we can do so she will sleep in her bed, in her room and not wake up 100 times a night until we give in and put her in our bed?
(This is bad timing as we are TRYING TC!!)

Thanks girls!!

would she sleep on the fold out couch in her room? The novelty would probably wear off after a while. Sorry no other suggestions.

Here's some suggestions- don't know if they'd work but worth a try maybe?

Don't give her options- tell her she has to go to bed at a certain time.
Set a time and tell her it's bed time at say- 7.30 and make it a game that if she can have a bath, eat dinner, and slow down and be in bed before then- she'll get a sticker on a chart or something like that- then at the end of the week if she has so many stickers she can get a treat.
Maybe spend more time with her in her room and on her bed, maybe reading or playing little games then its just a waiting game for her to fall asleep.
If she is taking so long to fall asleep in the afternoon- just leave her to play and then settle down later on. Maybe she is needing to stay awake more during the day so she is worn out at night?

There's just a few- I mean she's going through the terrible 2's by the sounds of it huh. I'm not really sure with what you can do since I'm not in your position- but theres a few suggestions to hopefully try and get you some quiet time.
The more you give into her the more she will take advantage- it may take a while, days, weeks? to get use to this- but it'll work out. Remember don't give options.
Good luck to you!

Thanks girls!! I think a problem is that we have been away over the weekend so is out of kilter from that...
will try your suggestions and let you know how it goes!!
With her afternoon sleep - she kept screaming whenever David or I left her room but I knew if she didn't have a sleep she would be cranky and ready for bed by 5 (and she was still in bed at 530!)

Think mum has to get tougher on her!!

we kind of had this problem with kobe a few months ago, hubby brought him into our bed when he woke up early and after that he wanted ot sleep in our room or on the couch and was waking at about 5.30am rather than the normal 7am but we just stuck to his normal routine. it did take a week I think during which I was tearing my hair out and in tears to hubby on the phone each night (he works nights so it was all up to me ot deal with) in the end I made him come home from work early for a couple of nights to help me deal with it but in the end it worked and kobe went back to his normal routine. I remember on super nanny there was a couple whos daughter would only sleep on a wee couch in the hallway but she made them get rid of it and it didnt take long for the girl to go back to her bed.

Yep Lena - gotta get tough!!! It does take a bit to get that resolved though. It took me a week or two of me being "Nice Mum" before I was over it and dedicated to being particularly stubborn.

Remember, takes 3 days to change a habit. In the mean time you have to be strong strong strong! (And consistent after the 3 days too!)

Han's gone back to being a crapper to get to sleep as we are on holiday, so in two weeks I'll be back to square one and will need your sympathy. (As by then Arna will be the perfect sleeper!)

With me, I love having taine in our bed. he smells so nice and looks so cute when asleep. Very effective form of contraception too.

How do you manage to sleep tho Liz? Whenever Hannah is in our bed I keep waking up cos I'm worried about rolling on here!

Lena, you gonna need to get tough!! We have just done this with Hannah cos we got out of routine and ended up cuddling her to sleep, but she started to take longer and then wake up when put down... So first couple of nights she cried for about an hour then I picked her up but she just stayed awake on me, then she cried for another hour when I put her back so realised I just need to leave her to it. Next night one hour, then 20 mins and 20 mins again tonight so we are definitely winning this battle!!

Good luck!
Aimee

Update:

We are taking this slow (but tough!) - This afternoon she fell asleep on her couch in her room (cause I forgot to take it out and she went into her room to "play" and I found her asleep!) And tonight David lay down with her for about 10 minutes and she was out like a light (and the couch is now in our wardrobe). So we will see if she wakes up tonight and if not then we know that she is happy in her "Big Bed"!
Am starting a sticker chart tomorrow for her afternoon sleeps as it is just me at home and I am not tough enough to be like David!! So hopefully that helps!

Now to Toilet Train...

Last night was weird... Arna is ATTACHED to her sheepy!
As you can see in the photo

And she came into our room sometime during the night and SLEPT without it... (I was half asleep and thought that I was dreaming as she didn't have sheepy so left her there!)
Woke up this morning and she didn't have it - and she slept all night in our bed...

That is very odd for her! Tonight I will put her back into her bed if she gets up... I know I won't be dreaming!
