Hi,

A personal Q. here but when you stopped breast feeding how long before your period came back?

I finished breast feeding a week ago & boys are 4 mnths old and wondered if it will just come back in the next month or whether it's related to when you gave birth?

And trust me I DON'T want it back, happily enjoyed my period free year - will be very annoying to have it back. Better get back onto the pill while I think about it because I also DON'T want more babies quite yet!

I bf Jack till he was 12.5mths and got it back a mth before I stopped (or was it 2mths?). But the last mth or so of bf was very minimal so it made sense it came back beforehand

I BF for 12 months and think mine came back a month later.

I'd say you'll get it very soon, which does suck, lol!

I gave up BF last week by which stage I had had 3 periods since having Blair, and conceiving this baby. (He was about 10 months old when AF turned up the first time)

I'm still BF'ing (twice a day for the last 3 weeks - was 3+ times a day up until then).
I got my period back 6 weeks after the birth - but didn't have another for 5 months. Had one each month, like clockwork.

I guess that's why BF'ing isn't a guaranteed contraceptive    (no, I'm not pregnant, but obviously ovulating).

I got mine the month I stopped bf, when Dominic was 10 mths old and I was pregnant the next month, so if you don't want more babies right away definately get some contraceptive. Its hard enough having 2 under 2 years, can't imagine what it would be like having three under 2!

Yeh, I'll be extra cautious. Not ready for another one quite yet! 3 under 2 doesn't sound like fun!

Emily was fully BF when I got mine back - she was 4 months old, and they've been here every month since, and she was still fully BF up until around 8 months too. Annoying thing is I got lots of bleeding in first 16 weeks of pregnancy, Emily was born at 31 weeks, so not a lot of AF-free time there, and then I bled post-birth for around 9 weeks. So not fair. You ladies still waiting for AF are so lucky to have enjoyed AF-free time while still BFing.

We're still bfing (22 months now), slowly starting to cut back the feeds and wean him, but mine came back on his 10 month bday exactly. I had a nice 19 months without it, infact has anyone found they have come back with a vengeance? As in REALLY REALLY BAD - 100 times worse than pre-baby?

I get constant 'grit your teeth' cramping for around 3 days mid-cycle/ovulation and then leading up to my period (about a week before) I break out in spots, really heavy feeling down below and dull aching all around my buttocks, thighs etc. Then the first 3-4 days of period the pain is sometimes so unbearable i have to curl up in a ball! Not nice, i hate it. My whole life revolves around my stupid AF now - please tell me im not the only one?

mine was about 4 or 5 weeks after stopping bf.

My midwife drummed into me after Amy that I needed to be very careful as you can get pregnant before AF comes back - as you ovulate before the first AF. She said that she had seen a few women over the years that were pregnant at the 6 week check . At 6 weeks i was like 'sex? you have to be kidding!'
