I am trying to get feedback on the Pink Kit, which is a methodology for active birthing, helps reduce time in labour, need for drugs, tearing etc. Has anybody in Auckland-Whangarei district used it? I live in Waipu, near Whangarei & would love to hear from anyone who has a copy & has used it, & also which midwives in the district have used it. Its $90 to buy for a one-off event, not sure if I want to shell out the cash if someone out there already has a copy & they've already had their baby/s ... Any help appreciated, Nadia

Hey Nadia, I havent used it but YAY someone else from Whangarei. I live in Springfield. Have you tried phoneing the midwives rooms and asking about it. I just used Evening primrose oil every night for about 2 - 3 weeks before both my births to ripen the cervix and it worked a treat!

OK so my midwife gave me a copy and I surpose it could have been good, but being the age I am I just could not stop laughing at the cloth's that eveyone was wearing I felt for me it seemed a little out of date they could have made it a little more exciting. As I said tho some of the info was helpful so deffently have a look at it I am not sure you would want to go spen $90 on tho.

oh i forgot to mention that the parents centre has an extensive anti-natal and post-natal library. Free to parents centre members or $10 refundable upon receipt bond for non members. You can phone 4383003 and see if they have any copies of the pink kit.

Hey Angelnz, thanks for that I have just rung the WPC & left a message. Hey how did you use the Evening Primrose Oil? Tablet or liquid form? Orally or topically? Ie Did you take tablets, drink it or apply it to the perineal area, or ?? Thanks

um inserted vaginally, capsuals. I must admit that with my first i was 9 days overdue and my midwife did a sweep so it didnt make me go into labour any earlier, but when my midwife did the sweep she did say that my cervix was very jelly like (ripe, ha ha). With my second i was only 3 days over and it was very quick birth. I also reccommend taking arnica drops during labour in your water bottle and post birth to assist healing. Ill PM you some other PC phone numbers just incase they dont check the main answerphone.

Hi Angelnz, thanks for those numbers & the tip about Arnica. I have never heard of using EPO the way you have. I never learnt so much as now when I am pregnant! Would you know if the 2 midwives no's you gave me through the PM would know of its use in this way? Can you recommend anyone else who has used, or endorses the use of, EPO in this way? Do I just buy normal EPO capsules or are there special ones for vaginal use? Maybe you could PM me your number so we can discuss further. Many thanks again for your kind assistance.

I think this EPO thing is really common, I have heard about it from many people, inc my midwife who suggested it to me initially! It is generally for later in pregnancy and I am not sure if the EPO was responsible but I had a five and a half hour labour then a natural birth with no stitches! I def give it a go!!
