Hello!
Well after perservering this long with Blakes reflux and not using anything ..well trying Gaviscon when he was 6 weeks and it didnt do anything really and giving him Losec for a tiny bit but freaked out cause he was so young!!
I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF BEING THROWN UP ON AND CLEANING UP SICK AND CHANGING MY CLOTHES AND HIS CLOTHES TEN TIMES A DAY!! Other than the continuous throwing up his reflux does not appear to bother him.
I have tried to get out the door 3 times today but due to these huge "hurls" I am not getting far.
Does Losec stop this? If it does I have a Paedatrician Appt soon and will suggest I have it prescribed as I feel more confident now he is older.
(mind you at the moment I would do anything to stop this constant sick!!)
Ella has been on losec since she was 2 months old. It stops the acid production and it coming up into their throats. unfortunately it doesnt stop vomiting. Have u tried a thickened formula? How old is he? On solids?
He is on solids at night..big feed of them. Was giving them in the morn too but he didnt seem keen. Prob cause he has a huge milk feed then.
So do you think I should try gavison again?? Thats supposed to be a thickener aye?? But he wont drink it. So I wonder if you could mix that in with their food???
Yep Losec does not stop the throwing up just the acid production. i would probably try gaviscon again (it kind of puts a seal on things) or their is a natural product called Rhuger, which we had "some" success with. 0800 2RHUGER. ITs made by a pharmacist.
Hi Kelly!
Sorry to hear Blake has reflux too!!Aston has it and it drives me bonkers!!
Astons on Zantac though but talking about gaviscon, we use that still too, hes bottle fed mainly now and gets one mixed in every bottle. I think if you mixed some gaviscon up with water then mixed it in his food that might work. Aston wouldnt take it on its own, it just made him worse, it tastes so yuck!
My friend who's bub has reflux uses Losec, hes 13weeks now, she gives it with a teaspoon of pears baby food. Is that what you were doing?
Yer the pears activates the losec. Sometimes the gav just WONT work so if it doesnt i recommend trying the thickend formula u can get from the supermarket providing hes not on prescription formula
I was using gaviscon for Lachlan's reflux and that seemed to fix the problem with us (but in saying that he never did big hurls but was definately spilling). I used to give him his gaviscon through a dropper syringe. I never used it with the full amount of water they said to mix it with and that was recommended through Plunket and also my doctor (as from memory its a lot to get into them). You can also mix up just a little bit and feed it to him on a spoon.
I finally took him off the gaviscon at 6 months (and very nervous I was too) and he was good as gold. At that age he was more upright and eating more solids.
