Ok so AF was due on monday, I did a test on Tuesday and it came up with the faintest of faint second line (within the time limit) like, the kind you go cross eyed trying to look at
Did another test yesterday, line was slightly darker but still faint came up within time limit. Defiantly can see the line anyway

Went to doctors just before - did a test and it came up with a faint line within time limit, doctor acknowledged line but said it was too light to be a positive.

I totally thought a line was a line! But there not getting any darker... don't know what to make of the situation now. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yep a positive is a positive. I went out and bought a discover preg test which detects lower levels of preg hormones- still wasnt as dark at the control. You can get a form from the dr to get a blood test if u want.

bottom line....drs can be really stupid.
its a line, you got 2 other positives within the time limit..hes just being a big downer.
I think Drs expect a line to be so dark it jumps off the test and does a dance ...

   Hi ChikkyD,
I was in a similar situation to you very recently. I was 2 days late and took a pregnancy test and got a faint positive. There were definitely 2 lines and I was so excited but wanted to be sure so told myself I would wait 2 days and take another test as I know HCG doubles every 48 hours. I got to 4 days late and was about to take the test and AF showed up Turns out I had a very early miscarriage. I know this because I am having blood tests done to monitor my HCG levels due to a partial molar preganancy and my blood hcg's went up then back down and the doctors confirmed the early miscarriage.
In saying that I am sure that you will have better luck than me and fingers crossed that you are UTD! Wait a day or two and take another test to confirm. Best of luck to you

This same exact situation happened to me - I did about 10 tests in two days with DS, each one I'd have to squint and hold the test in a certain light to see it. Went to my GP who said it was nothing and I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, decided I wasn't happy with that so went to another GP who did blood tests and low and behold - I was UTD (changed to the new GP after that). I actually did another test at 18 weeks.. it was spare and I wanted to see a proper line and it STILL didn't show a dark line!
With DD I also had an extremely faint line but I knew right away that it was a BFP and it was All the very best |

   Hi,
Yeah with my first pregnancy I went to the doctors to get it comfirmed (after 2 faint positive lines on home kits), it didn't show up on the doctors test and I was so upset, but he said that the home kits are often more accurate as the ones that doctors have are just basic cheap ones (lol), and that usually women don't go to them to have a test till they are 'worried' and overdue by a while for their period. Not like all us in the TTC community who test days before we really should lol.
Good luck with getting a nice dark line soon.

With DS the first one was really light, the second one was still light, but a bit darker. The doctor's one came up really quick, still wasn't overly dark. Even the test packet says that the line doesn't have to be the same colour as the control line.
Have you done any further tests since your first post?
