Hi,

having panic attacks a few times a day and cant even go out of house without having one, let alone drivng my kids to school etc.
Doc had strated me on some meds but they take couple of weeks to kick in.

just wondering does anyone else suffer form this or know things that will help??

My DH did about this time last year. His were really bad that he coudln't leave the house or even have people around. His was in combination with PND so his was really bad. It did take 2 weeks for the meds to kick in but even after that he still didn't want to go out. It wasn't until the end of September that he decided he didn't want to be couped up at home and went ahead and tried to get on with his life. He managed to do a week long course with the army and was selected into the army as an officer cadet and is now currently doing that. He just needed his own time to heal and he did.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I suffer, but not that badly. I used to find myself blacking out if faced with a tense situation (like being around my ex or with family that I don't get along with). It really is a matter of just working through it in your own time - initially I had to remove myself from the situations that triggered the attacks, and I gradually came back into them. Probably took a good couple of years but I was also an undiagnosed and therefore unmedicated depressive so it would have been sooner if I'd been diagnosed.

Big hugs - I hope you have a lot of support around you and good on you for seeking help

Razzmatazz. I've been through this a few times now.
I know how hard it is.
Some of the things that have helped me get back on track:
Sleep - If I'm regularly getting too little sleep the panic and anxiety start creeping back in.
Too much sugar &/or caffeine - When I'm feeling run down and moody I often start drinking too much coke and coffee and pigging out on lollies etc to give me a boost. They actually contribute to the anxiety though.
Iron - When my iron is low I tend to slip back into the patterns of panic and anxiety.
Exercise - invaluable for getting all those good hormones released into the bloodstream and also helps you sleep better which is crucial for me.
Other things that have been really helpful in getting well again were counselling and hyperventilation therapy.
The hyperventilation therapy was really good because it taught me how to manage the anxiety attacks when they came on. I can definitely recommend it.
Counselling is actually what got me through the first breakdown I had with the anxiety disorder. I didn't have any specific issues that were causing the anxiety but talking through everything that was happening and the things that were setting my anxiety off helped me to work out ways of addressing and dealing with them. It helped me to get my confidence back and start living again.
I hope that some of this is helpful to you chick. There's plenty of us that have gone through it and are back to our normal selves again now. You will be too.
If you have any questions or want to talk about anything to do with it, please feel free to PM me.
