Jaxon was sleeping all through the night for ages and now he seems to wake at  3am every morning screaming. Its been so hard so we do the wrong thing and take him into bed with us then he becomes happy again and goes to sleep. Got into a bad habit. How can I get out of it?? We did try leavig him to cry but it was heartbreaking.. Any tips???

It could be the temperature drop at that time of the morning. Try putting a themastatically controlled heater in his room. Could be teething, might be something to do with a new food just added to his diet or that hes just not getting a big enough dinner. Im sorry i know this hasnt been very helpful but sometimes its a process of elimintation. Also thrush is uncomfortable so it could be that.

i dont think that taking him into bed with you is necessarily the wrong thing...

but it could be the drop in termperature at 3am so maybe an extra blanket.?

Maybe just feed him, he might need it, he's a growing boy, and having a tummy full of nice warm milk can help warm him up.. along with the extra blankies on the bed.

I am afraid to say that all kids do this sort of thing at this age, a combination of teething and learning to move their body disrupts their sleep! Olivia did it for a couple of weeks and went back to her usual self. Not to worry

Maya did the same thing and Plunket told me it's because at around 6 or so months they start becoming more aware of cause and effect. When they're really small they cry instintively but as they get older they start to understand that when they cry they get fed/picked up/patted/thrown against the wall (JK!). So they do it to elicit a response. After sleeping thru from 7 weeks Maya stopped sleeping thru at 6 or so months and didn't start again until I got tough and let her CIO (altho she was sick for some of that time so needed more regular feeds).
