Topic: Wellington - where/what to go/do Posted: 19 August 2009 at 6:12pm |
I'm thinking of going for a tiki tour tomorrow, not totally sure why, but I feel like it lol..
Thinking about going to wellys/lower hutt for a bit of a shop/nosey. Apart from the mall, where else is good to go that is easy to get to or find.. can be shopping or interesting things for the little man. Now when I mean easy to find, I do mean really easy lmao... I have only been to wellys a hand full of times in my life, I hate driving in wellys central and will likely get lost there lol. So anything close to motorways would be best lol

I am not sure on shopping - although I love Westfield Queensgate in Upper Hutt.
As for interesting things for Daniel, a nice walk along the waterfront - Frank kits park and TePapa is always fun. Its pretty easy to get there too

Yeah Frank Kitts park is great, he can look out at the wharf and might even get a glimpse of a helicopter. Its not far from TePapa. Te Papa would be perfect for him too!
Also if you cross from there into Lambton Quay you can go up on the cable car, there is a nice park up there too.
Westfield in the Hutt is great

Te Papa isn't too hard to find and if you park there for the afternoon you can walk to the waterfront, Lambton Quay, cable car. There's a cool playground on the waterfront towards Queens Wharf way (sorry forgotten the name of it).
In the other direction (away from the CBD) along the waterfront is the "beach" at Oriental Bay. There's sand and another playground and there's some nice cafes (and used to be shops?) along that way too.

petone shops are AWESOME. i got an entire mcds madagascar toy set at the op shop there foir $1.20. Cool little stores with neat stuff. Lollipops in lower hutt too, but it';s crap and smells funny.
dressmart in tawa is easy to find, but i find it disappointing.
tepapa is cool for kiddies.
cuba st is cool for grown ups.
