Okay. So like, I am absolutely sh*t scared of flying. The thought of it just makes me get severe anxiety rushes.
We are flying to Auckland next wednesday and I just cant do it. I woke up this morning and I just cant. I know it's a week away, but I dont care. I dont want to go because if I force myself, I'll spend half of our honeymoon recovering and the other half psyching myself up for flying home. What the hell do I do? Honesty? I'm not being silly, i'm sick of people telling me 'its going to be alright.' because no it's not.

Can you go to the docs and get a script for a couple of valium to help you stay calm through the flight?
I've had them a few times to get me through some particularly difficult situations and found it really helpful. I'm not very good with medication generally but I found the valium, because it was a low dose, removed me from the fear without making me feel drugged or out of it.
Good luck, I really hope you don't have to miss out on your honeymoon!

Then unfortunately you will have to put up with feeling the fear and having a pretty horrific flight.
I hate flying with a passion ... I find praying helps lol ... although when turbulence hits even that doesnt help much
One thing I will say is that if you tell the staff at check in and the flight crew you are afraid of flying they look after you REALLY well!
Ive flown longhaul alone (UK) a number of times and if they know you are afraid they go out of their way to put you at ease....one of my tricks is also to fly late at night in the hopes Im so tired I will sleep (doesnt always work lol)

I also hate flying but I find it not so bad if I am travelling with DH or the family. I can hold DH's hand, squeeze it really tight if need be and he reassures me if there are any weird plane noises.
Air NZ use to run a Fear of Flying course...maybe look into that?

You could take rescue remedy?
It's a hard one, I've never felt that way so can't really offer advice. If it was me and I felt that way I'd probably pray lots, hold DH's hand all the time, and get DH to tell the staff I'm afraid of flying.

Do you have the cash to see a hypnotherapist?
Otherwise try some of the suggestions above (rescue remedy, let the flight staff know and pray).

I used to be terrified of flying. It was hideous, and got worse as I got older. I've travelled a lot, and for the couple of days before a flight I would be a mess. Then when the time came to go I'd sit on the plane, totally rigid the whole time, freaking out, bursting into tears if turbulance hit for more than a few seconds. I had this whole routine going before takeoff - I'd cross myself, recite the lords prayer and then do decade after decade of the rosary. Probably looked like a nut job to anyone beside me, but I had to do it! I also had a St Christophers medal and a cross necklace that I had to wear on flights. Takeoff and turbulance were my main issues.
But weird thing has happened. Since having Joshua, and travelling down to Welly once every 3-6 months, having to focus on him has made me sooooo much more relaxed on flights. I'd say about 98% better.
My only suggestion is to try your hardest to relax. You'll be flying from ChCh? So you'll be on a big plane, which feel so much safer. Remind yourself that there are more deaths in car accidents in one week than there are in plane crashes in a decade in New Zealand. Rescue remedy is all good, as is wine! A few glasses knocked back always helped me a bit And you'll have your DH with you holding your hand. The staff will look after you, and it is only 1 1/2 hours.
Good luck!
