Topic: Recommend a cafe in Auckland? Posted: 08 October 2008 at 10:10am |
My coffee group is looking for a place to meet up tomorrow. We've been to Bang Bang and the Windsor Park cafe before and thought we might try somewhere new.
I've read a few negative things about Ark, so not too keen on that one.
Are there any others that people could recommend? We're on the north shore but don't mind a bit of a drive, and the kids are all aged around 14 months (so some walking, some crawling).
Cheers!

Theres The Library Cafe in Onehunga - they aren't too bad, they have an area for the kids, but sometimes they are a little hopeless.

I've always had great experiences at the Library - its on Princes Street in Onehunga. They have a website if you want to google it. There are two play areas - indoor and out - and tons of high chairs.
The cafe at the Parenting Place (Great South Road in Greenlane) is ok, more snacks than meals though. It is an amazing space for the kids to run around in though with touch screen TV's and lots of toys. You have to feed them in the cafe area though, not in the carpeted section.

Spoonful of Sugar in Ponsonby is great.
And they take your kids away into a playroom with a qualified nanny or two, and you can watch them on a big screen in the cafe while you enjoy coffee and catchup with your girlfriends

Oh, stink! I guess it has been a while since I've been there.
The Library in Onehunga is good for the play area inside and out, but like Mel said they can be a bit useless sometimes. We used to be there every weekend without fail, but the last few times have had disappointing aspects to the visit - parts of meals forgotten, childrens meals and fluffies coming about 25 mins after the adults (despite constant reminders), lack of continuity with what a meal is made up of (kids meal - usually comes with a sandwich, pieces of fruit, banana chips, carrot sticks - last time came with the sandwich and some apple match sticks for same price!).
But they try hard, the coffee is great, and it is a lovely venue.
