Topic: Labelling clothes Posted: 06 October 2009 at 6:49pm |
Hi,
This is going to sound so dumb..........but, I need to label all of DS's clothes for daycare.
I have some iron on clothes for tshirts etc, but do you need to label socks and shoes and if so what with, surely I don't do iron on labels for socks, but I guess they could go missing

We label her socks (with iron on thingeys) and her shoes are also labelled (we use the stuck on you, shoe tags).
We name everything that belongs to her (including teddy bear and her hats etc etc)

I think it depends what the size of your DC is. DS only has 16 spots a day so makes it easier for staff to know who belongs to what. DS is also full time so staff knew his things really well.
DS is still in the nursery (so under 2's) and all I ever labelled was his clothes e.g shorts, pants, t's, jerseys and I just wrote his name on the label. I never labelled shoes, socks, cuddlies etc as some don't have tags etc so make it harder to do.
It really depends on what you want to do.
DS has been in Dc for nearly a year and we have lost 1 t'shirt and 1 pair of socks so not bad really. I think I have had to go looking for items about 3 times and thats it.

We've lost one sock and I'm shocking with labelling things so not bad. There's only ever a max of 12 kids at our DC (in the nursery I mean) so they keep an eye on everything. i've never labelled socks or the cuddly, and I only initial everything else (am getting labels now he's staying in one size long enough, but most kids just have their initals on the tags and that's fine).
I don't even bother labelling Ava's stuff, she's the only one there under 6mo so don't think they'll confuse her NB size with anyone elses

we use a laundry marker too....every time i dress her i check label just in case...even undies now!!!
socks i now label - i never used to inbabies room as kids were separate to the older kids so clothing didnt go missing as much....as a toddler OMFG i cannot keep socks!!! I now mark her name at bottom of each sock....and all items have her name written on label and some on the clothing....esp jackets etc.
its amazing what goes missing at Dc - we had a wear your togs day...and her bottoms went missing never to return!!! (she had extra clothing in her bag and she had changed out of her togs for sleep)
