Topic: At the end of my wits! Posted: 10 August 2009 at 11:53am |
Right now I have just put 2 screaming girls into their rooms (well one in ours) and have turned on the washing machine and radio so I cant hear them.
I just dont know what else to do, I need just a 5 minute break!
Since Thursday I have had a constant run of at least one of them screaming, if not 2. They had been sick early on last week and Maddi end of last week just small temperatures a runny nose and a bit of a cough. That seems to be all clearing up but they are still screaming. Maddi will not let me put her down, and even then she winges everytime I do anything. I put her down to go to the loo and all hell broke loose.
Keira has been throwing tantrum after tantrum, probably not helped by the fact I cant do anything with her as Maddi is taking up all my attention.
They are tired I know that but how do you get them to sleep when they wont stop crying!! Could there be something else going on...??? We have just moved into a new home so maybe thats not helping, and DH has gone away the weekend, which makes it seem worse I have no one to take over for just a minute.
I ended up giving up and going to my parents last night. Keira was fine - happy and back to her old self. Maddi was still pretty clingy but a whole lot happier. This morning when they all went back to work the screaming started again. We came home and it still hasnt stopped.
I am just so over it right now. DH is still in Auckland and doesnt realise how hard the girls are right now. He thinks there is something wrong with me because I cant cope a weekend without him.
Gaah! They are still screaming, I guess I better go and try settling them down. Break Over.

I'm not much help considering I only have one, but good on ya for making five minutes for yourself
If I lived closer I would come visiting with a little one to entertain them, some coffee and a cake. Gutted!!

Didn't want to read and run - I know nothing at all useful, but I would certainly be stressing out too.

Christy
I hope the girls are behaving themselves again
Perhaps letting them blow off some steam at Te Papa on Wednesday will help.
(And a nice break for Mum!!)
I hope you get a break soon
Sounds like you need to crack open the wine when they've gone to bed tonight!

I hope you are still coming on Wednesday too - I am just sorry that I wont have Amy with me for Keira to hang out with.
When I get like that I must admit I let the DVD player take the strain . Is your DH back soon?
also someone once told me that children are a bit like dogs - they can smell fear, so if you are stressed they will know. So, deep breath, count to 10 slowly and see if they get any better

Thank you guys.
They settled down a wee bit this afternoon. I managed to get rid of Keira for a few hours at Kindy and I put Maddi down (in Keiras bed because I forgot hers) and she atcually played hapily in her room (hasnt done that in days) until I eventually put her back and she went to sleep.
I had to wake her to pick up Keira from Kindy and thats where everything went downhill again. DH arrived home at 6 to them both screaming as I was trying to get their dinner sorted.
I am so relieved hes home, hes currently putting them to bed. Hopefully hes going to take tomorrow off and try help out. Surely they cant get any worse, and if they are still screaming I think we may take them to the Dr to make sure there is nothing else causing all the screaming.
Hopefully hopefully hopefully they are a whole lot better tomorrow and we can make it to TePapa, at least that is something to look forward and hopefully they will be back to their well behaved selves when they are out.

Have you moved into a brand new house? or an old new house? The carpet fumes in a new house could make them feel funny?
But definitely being away from Daddy won't help
