Hmm... we went for my son's 5 month check a week and a half ago. Plunket nurse gave me some toothpaste for 6 year olds+ which my 11 year old uses now. No mention was made of a toothbrush. My son has two teeth btw.

I was rather blown away with the amount of home visits were scheduled. We had two! 5 and 7 weeks, and I think the second one may have been because I had my gallbladder out at 6 weeks and struggled a bit. With my daughter I had 6 home visits!!

I am the president for my towns Plunket. Unfortunately at the moment most areas have an extreme lack of funds. During the next few months a number of fundraising events are being held, along with appeal week, so hopefully things will be a bit better for you all :)

I never got toothbrushes/toothpaste at their 5 month visit.

I asked Plunket, and they are funded for 8 visits between birth and 5 years old for each child. We have been seen a few times already, but mainly because the girls were prem, and they're twins, so they watch their development pretty closely.

We got a toothbrush and tube of 6+ toothpaste at DD's 5month check. PN said they give 6yr old toothpaste now as it has fluride in, and the previous baby toothpaste didn't and kids' teeth were rotting!

Anyway, Chelsea's toothbrush and toothpaste are sitting unused in the cupboard because, even though she'll be 1 next week, she still doesn't have any teeth!!

DS 2yrs

I think level of service and experience you have with Plunket is totally dependent on what area you are in and who your nurse is. Plunket here is fabulous and I think they do a great job, however I've heard bad things about the next area over from ours.
Two little girls under 2!
