Just wondering if anyone else has there chld in a Gina ford routine? We have been doing it with Hannah since she was one week and she is totally thriving on it and I'm sure thats why she started sleeping 7 til 7 so early on. We are reasonably flexible with it and I havent advanced her to the next routine cos she seems to be really happy at the moment.

Anyway, having a lot of trouble gettign her to sleep at 7pm now. She will cry for 15-60 minutes every night. Worse if she doesnt have an afternoon catnap. Everyday she is up and fed at 7am, down at 9 for 45 mins, back to bed about 12 for 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 hours, 20-30min catnap at 4.30ish, then feed/bath/feed before 7. I have tried all sorts - no catnap, longer catnap, feeding earlier so tummy not so full when she goes down, keeping her up for a lttle longer... She is tired, but not overtired when I put her down, well fed and burped, not too hot or cold, clean nappy.... For all her day sleeps as soon as she shows tired signs I put her to bed and she just goes to sleep no crying, so cant figure out what the problem is. Any suggestions would really be great. Ok thats the end of my novel!

I have never heard of the Gina Ford routine sorry Aimee - But when Arna was around Hannah's age (5 months I think she was though) she started playing up and not going to sleep at her normal time... She would sleep fine during the day and at night just wouldn't sleep... tried everything and then put a nightlight in her room and didn't hear a peep after that.

Maybe that will work? If not then I'll keep thinking for ya!!

Good Luck

Haven't heard of it either sorry Aimme - but remember a few months back i was having the same prob with miss ayja - used to sleep 6.30pm till 7 every night from 3 months onwards till then... she is now just getting back into the swing of things - so can't help ya, sometime you just have to suffer through it, stay strong and keep doing what you have always done.. in the end just stick with routine and she'll come right.

I've heard of it but never tried it with Maya. From memory there was something in Little Treasures a while back about it. Will have a look and let you know.

A lot of people hate Gina Ford with a passion cos her routines are quite strict and she has quite a stern, bossy tone to her books. But like everything it doesnt wrok for everyone and it has worked for us, although I dont follow it religiously it really helped get Hannah into a good routine to start with. Her main book is The New Contented Little Baby Book and she also has a Sleep book and others about feeding and toilet training.

I have a feeling that I may have been prolonging Hannahs crying cos I would go in every 10 mins to give her a little pat until she went to sleep. I think it wasw more to make ME feel better than anything else. Last night I just left her to it and she was asleep in less than 20 mins, so that is now my new plan of attack!

I used to leave Maya to it. Stubborn little miss would cry for up to an hour, but eventually fall asleep, whereas if I went in there to check on her and she saw me it would start all over again

www.contentedbaby.com is Ginas website but it doesnt actually give you the routines and you have to pay a yearly membership to see more info and join the forum etc. Trish, just sent you a pm. HTH
