We moved Ella around 15 months no worries. Her cot was secondhand and looking rather wobbly when she stood up and shook it, so that was the main reason to move her! I put the cot matress on the floor at the head of the bed, she fell out on the first 2 nights and has hardly done it since. We had to resort to shutting her door when putting her to bed. Lying down with her stopped working - she started to trick us then get out of bed when we thought she was asleep! At least with her door shut, she would get up if not 100% ready to sleep and read her books, then one of us would put her back in bed 5-10 mins later. Dont have this problem now with daylight savings, its too dark for her to see anything. Straight to sleep!

it souds awful, but if it were jake and the heater - i wouldn't get a guard. I figure if he touches it, he'll get a hot hand, probably not a burn, and he won't do it again. I have a guard around the gas heater, but only cause he may run into it accidentally. Th oil heater I don't...but thats in my room, not his.

Lizzle you could always use your cot sheets for a while if they fit over the side, we did that with Kobe because he doesnt reach the end of the bed yet anyway.
As I mentioned we got a racing car bed but what a mission finding it. I looked around and a lot of single beds are still expensive I reckon. This on was $500 but the bottom where the wheels are rolls out to a trundle bed plus with the higher sides I didnt have to buy a rail. Trade me have a really cool little tikes car bed for sale, its so neat but still $500 I think.
As for the heater, we have a little oil heater in his room and he has never touched it, we made it clear from day one that it was no go and for some reason he actually listened to us, doesnt happen often believe me!
