Topic: Man I HATE it when this happens!! Posted: 17 February 2009 at 3:45pm |
I sold an item on TM, so packaged it up and took it to the Post Shop to buy a box and find out how much postage will be. I was told it would be $7.50 postage. I took it home and addressed the box and waited for payment to come through. It did, so I took the package back to the post shop only to be told it would cost $12.50 for postage!!!! As it was, I told the person who won the item to only pay $10 all all up for P&P as the box was $4.50 and postage was going to be $7.50! So I in the end I had to pay MORE myself for the postage!! GRRRR STUPID STUPID post shop! I told the lady there that I'd been priced $7.50 but she said no it would be $12.50. I mean what else can I do?!?!?!?!?!?! I'm not one to get too upset over these things right there, but I was fuming and was very short with the lady.
Rip off artists I say!!

There was an item on target a few months ago about how the people at the post shop don't understand their pricing correctly. That sucks!!

I had the exact same thing happen the other day, luckily the person I traded with was fantastic and she paid the difference after I had sent the goods.
I was told when I sent the parcel that you can check the postage on the NZ Post website (if you have the size and weight) which is what I have done since then and the postage is then normally correct.
It really sucks though!!!!!

I had that with the thank you cards I sent out after Isobelle. One postshop told me that a 50c stamp would do and another that I had to use a $1 stamp. I had already posted half of the cards with the 50c stamp and thought they would all come back but they were delivered. Meaning that I got charged twice as much as I should have on the other half of cards. It seems like a small thing but we could have saved $30 in stamps!
I felt very ripped off

I had the same thing but I had written down the prices at the time so I could give the buyer all the options and still had this on me when i went back in to the post shop and argued with her about it and she actually sent it for the quoted price.
Its so rude aye

I had this the other day but some were way more than initially quoted and some were less. I had the TM lady where it was less send me and abusive email about it!
They really need to sort it out at the post shops!

Man that sux! I don't often sell on TM but this has happened to me when I have. In the end you pay the extra postage and are also charged a success fee on your auction, all adds up

Yeah it does add up, considering I didn't charge the auction winner full price as it was for the P&P and then I end up paying an extra $5 more! I only sold the item for $25! NZ Post will be making soo much more since TM started up! And their prices still rise!

As well as checking on the website, you can get a postage parcel chart from the post shop.
Sometimes at the postshop different people perceive the size of your parcel slightly differently when they hold it up to the chart!

This is what happened to me, the first lady just used one of those red boards to measure the box and told me the postage price. The next time I took it in, the lady actually used a measuring tape and said it there was a slight overhang when she put the box on the red board, so it was cost more to post! That's was made me really mad cos it was probably only 1 mm over the board!!!!!! I almost wanted to be snarky and say "do you get a bonus for overcharging the customers?" but I didn't want to cause a scene, the shop was busy!
