I think you would still get afte pains as your uterus shrinks, but I'm only guessing...
Toni, how are you going - you've left us all hanging! Really, really hope your rib stays put |

Hi Ladies, didn't mean to leave you all hanging. I've been having a bit of a bad day today.
My ribs are still intact thankfully. Hoping that they stay that way. I did get a smack on the hand from my doctor for not coming in earlier (went in this morning) and then he escorted me over to see my midwife which was really funny.
My boy has turned kind of sideways transverse & is "stuck" up high in my ribs and that was causing the pain with my braxton hicks according to my midwife. I'm really hoping that he turns head down or I will have to have a c-section instead of the VBAC that I'm planning on Also midwife reckons my boy has got either one hand or a foot right in my pelvis & is "tweaking" my cervix which is really not pleasant.

you have my sympathies too toni! i'm sure he will turn soon, they'll give him to 37wks to turn then book you for c-section if he doesn't, so there's still plenty of time. well, that's what they did with jack anyway.
as lu said, try getting down on all fours and rock gently, sometimes that can help to turn them around. they can also try and manually turn him by pressing your tum.

Well my left rib popped out this afternoon All I can say is "OW OW OW son of a bi@tch!!!!!!!!" God it hurts! Thank god for my wheatpack or I would have a lot worse to say. I was doing the positions that my midwife recommended and my boy did a flip or right & that was what popped the rib out. My doctor was very sympathetic, but I could have whacked him over the head when he told me that Bubs must have down a full rollover/wriggle & landed exactly the same way.....So he is still transverse. So so so typical!!!!

Oh Toni!!! Hope you are feeling better today!
About those afterpains - for me, it was like that tummy achy feeling when you are constipated. I took a few panadol and was fine. it only lasted a few days for me.

in hopes of making you feel a bit better -
i had a transverse bub and he was turned twice...and was born normally, in fact he went 2 weeks over. and i could never tell which way he was lying.
and I had NO afterpains - they say you get them every second child... i didnt get any with either and my uterus (according to the nurses) contracted back to where it should be really quickly. the midwife who came to my home was very impressed.
so you may have nothing to worry about...
 hope you feel better today.
