DS used to have the awesome seedy yellow tacky poo which was pronounced 'classic healthy BF poo' by midwife...however after 6 weeks it has become the consistancy and colour of pumpkin soup. It smells a bit off too - nothing sickening but i don't remember the yellow stuff smelling at all. Been to Doc who sort of shrugged and said bf babies poo can vary a lot and they don't get diarrhea (gee, thanks!). Plunket made a note but as he doesnt poo on command i didnt have a sample to show them. He's otherwise happy and healthy though - so is this normal poo or weird i should go back to the Doc and insist on closer inspection poo?
oh - and now he only goes once every few days instead of 4 or 5 times a day. And sometimes it is quite a bit runnier then soup though not water thin.

Wow...who would have thought i'd ever put so much descriptive effort into poop!

sounds exacty what my happened with DD... now it goes from every 3-5 days to everyday then 6 times yesterday!!! The consistency changes too...also the longer it is inbetween then the worse the smell.
I never thought I would spend so much time thinking and talking about poo either!!

If he is happy and healthy, and not straining or screaming while pooing then I wouldnt be to concerned. If your REALLY worried, save a pooie nappy and take it to plunket LOL. Sounds normal to me. DD did the same, and slowly they firmed up.

Sounds totally like my DS's poo was...just like pumpkin soup, sometimes thicker than others. That seedy stuff didn't seem to last very long.
You wait till you start solids - it gets much more exciting! |

Oh, and following the "less then one in ten days or ten in one day is a problem" rule if he doesnt poo in 10 days then on the 10th night fills 10 nappies in a few hours is that a problem?
Between 1 and 2am no less. Settle into bed - telltale pffffffft noise, change and repeat...?

I presume he was just doing a mega poo in dollops, right?

What have you been eating ? I found that if you eat lots of something ( chicken chips, curry and for some reason hot cross buns) their poo tends to smell like that lol.
Dd used to poo once a week ( on a Thursday between 7-9 pm while her Dad was playing cricket ) and woud go through 4 or five nappy changes before she was done.
As someone else said a slong as he's still happy and not straining he'll be fine.
