Topic: Happy fathers day....... Posted: 07 September 2008 at 8:26am |
TO ME!
As a single parent I celebrate this with my kids for me. We make cards during the weeks to send off for the dads but this week was an interesting one.
Lesieli 12years. Me: we are making the fathers day cards. Lesieli: OK I will make you one Me: What about dad? Lesieli: does he care about me, does he even try and see me? You are my world! Me: (in shock) Ok if you are sure I would like that.
Mercedes 7 years Me. we are making the fathers day cards. Mercedes: cool I have started one at school..*scurries off to her school bag* see mum!
Mercedes card read... to Grandpa I love you sooo much. I love you. Grandpa you rock.Grandpa is cool. Grandpa I love you. Love Mercedes. Mercedes loves grandpa.
Me: that is great Mercedes he will love it but what about dad? Mercedes: No I didnt want to Me: ok lets send Grandpa's one
Wow it is amazing the kids have thought and decided this on their own. I sat with Alize and he scribbled a card for their dad and I will sent that only from him as Mercedes doesnt want her name in there. The grandp she is sending her card to is her paternal one so shame on her dad.... his father is getting the card not her.
Happy fathers day too me..... Defintely a day I feel PROUD as a single mum and doing it all myself.

Yay Kels, you so deserve it and how awesome that your girls appreciate you doing both jobs for them!
I always ring my mum on father's day too. She and her partner did a heck of a lot more fathering to us kids than my dad did.

Happy "Fathers'" Day Kels
We are having dinner for dessert tonight at the kids' request. It's quite exciting to plan it all, actually!

Happy (belated) Fathers Day to all you fabulous single mums out there!
You are coping with the hardest job in the world - parenting - all on your own, and your strength and ability to just get on with it is an absolute credit to you all.
YOU ROCK!!
(from the daughter of a brilliant single mum )

happy father's day!!!! (abit late)
sometimes i can't cope with the kids while having a partner, let alone trying to do it by myself!!
i'm totally in awe of single parents
it must feel nice that the girls have come to this 'realisation' about their father all by themselves kels..........it's not a nice thing, but i hope you know i i'm trying to say
