Topic: Becks has arrived in one piece... Posted: 29 June 2008 at 5:55pm |
Not without a few dramas, the desert road was closed for a while so they got stuck in Taihape, and neither of the boys are that impressed with the snow, but they have now arrived safely at their new house and have the fire going all ready to snuggle in...

She text me when she was stuck in Taihape. That must have been so frustrating for them

Yep I finally made it. Started packing the truck at 6.20am and got it all packed up in about an hour. Picked up the boysand hit the road. Got a txt from the truck driver when we were in Bulls (about 9.30am) telling us the roads were closed and he had to turn back. I rung my aunty and uncle and found out what was going on (they live in Taihape). My uncle had just closed the road to Waiouru from Taihape so he told us just to wait at their place till the road re opened. Meanwhile our truck was heading back to Palmy . So we were waiting in Taihape Andrew was nice and pushed me and my coffee split all over me (and it burnt my leg). Nigel went to take the boys for a walk and just as he walked out the door my uncle rang to say the road was open. We were off. Txted the truck driver who was in Sanson . So we went to Waiouru, went to camp first so Nigel could get some army gear to wear as it was cold. Went to the house and lit the fire straight away so we could warm up as the ground was covered in snow. Found out we had no power either , so rang the power company to sort that out (I am glad I am on a contract so won't cost we too much). The truck finally arrived and attracted the kids from the neighbourhood. Managed to get it all unpacked in less than an hour (with help from the neighbourhood kids!!!!) and then we could finally do our stuff.
The beds were the main thing and the chilly bins next. Nigel went and got dinner (takeaways again ), and after that we finally got the boys sorted. Well it took till 8pm to get Josh to sleep and that was about the time Andrew went to bed as well . Soon after we went to bed too.
Today we went to camp to get the house stuff all sorted and got me my military ID. When we went back to get the photo taken for it I was asked at the gate for my ID but as we were going in to get it they were all sweet with that. Also went and say the gym and pool (which are free for us to use ) and I also enrolled us at the drs, and it is really cheap for me to see the dr (must be the cheapest in NZ I think) too.
So tonight I finally made dinner for us all and unpacked all the kitchen stuff (what a mission. A lot of stuff we are just going to leave in boxes.
Will be an early night tonight again, and funny thing I have a friend up here doing basic and when we were at the dr's she was there waiting to see the dr!!!

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
