Topic: Im so nervous Posted: 30 June 2008 at 12:07pm |
This Saturday Michaela is going to stay over with my family in Featherston (my mum, dad, sis, niece and nephew plus they're kitten and puppy have a house together over there). It'll be her first overnight stay without me and only the 5th time she's been baby sat.
On one hand I'm really looking forward to it. It'll be our first night out together without her since before she was born (not including 2 weddings we've been to as DH was MC at one so I barely saw him and I had to leave the 2nd straight after the ceremony because babysitters put out SOS after she'd been crying for over an hour). DH has just been given a $900 rebate from IRD and we're going shopping then going to dinner and movies. Plus I'll get to have a sleep in for the first time in years. On the other hand I'm so anxious about not being there for my baby when she goes to bed and when she wakes up in the morning and I'm worried about how she'll be during the afternoon with my family. I feel like I'm abandoning her - silly aye?
Logically I know it's silly to worry, especially with her cousins and their pets to keep her amused and 3 adults to take care of her if she gets upset but I'm so nervous.

I'm sure she'll be fine. The first time I left Kahtrell to stay over night at my parent's place in Whakatane I was worried, felt guilty, all those things. It was the first time I wasn't in the same town as him, as we were at a wedding in Tauranga. When we came back the next day to pick him up he was hanging out with his Koro in the shed lol. My mum and dad said he was a total breeze, no crying, went to sleep well and had lots of fun. There's been a couple of other times when I've been away from Kahtrel over night, once with his other grandparents, and once with his dad (over at his other grandparents lol) and he's been totally fine. I'm sure you're little girl will be fine too. Enjoy your time with DH!

She will be fine.....even if you aren't! It is hard the first time, I remember stressing out and I went to pick her up early but now, I look forward to her going to her Nana's and staying - yayay for dinner and the movies!
And remember, you are only a phone call/car ride away!!

Hugs. I was so worried when I left Elle with her grandparents for the night but she found it so exciting and was 100% happy the entire time.

She'll be fine! Try not to let her in on your anxiety though
But I must admit, you may not be so fine. I cried for ages the first night I spent away from Hannah and I don't really consider myself that attached to the little beastie. (Actually... that may have been the time she went away for a week. I think the first night was stressful but not nearly so teary)
Good luck!

She'll be fine!
It's harder on the mums than anyone lol. And then when it all goes well, you'll probably beat yourself up that she didn't miss you one iota!!!

She will be totally fine and not even realise that you have gone with the amount of people that are going to be there with her.
You on the other hand is another story (I know what I was like the first time with my boys, now I don't even mind).

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
