I do a lot of volunteer work at Wellington Children's Hospital, and they generally only accept new stuffed toys.

That's not being ungrateful, it's just that with many of the kids with diseases lowering their immunity, they have to be very careful that the kids don't get sick. Having said that, I don't know how Chch hopsital is set up - if the cancer kids etc are kept separate from the general sickness kids, it may be ok.

Personally, I think Woman's Refuge is a really good one. Sometimes mums and their children have literally left with just the clothes they are wearing, and imagine the comfort that a scared little kid could get from being given a cuddly toy to focus on at that point in time.

There is also the Preventing Violence in the Home charity, which is another good one.

I was going to say Womans Refuge and Salvation Army as well. They will pick up sometimes too incase you can't drop them off.

And also the Kmart wishing tree will be up soon and they collect toys for sallies and barnardos, so you could drop them off there they would be very appreciated.

Also - at Christmas in Christchurch you can donate them under the big christmas tree in the cathedral as well I think!

Or you could try the police - I think they carry soft toys in their cars to help soothe small children in accidents etc.
