Topic: Oh the Humanity! - The Sequel Posted: 05 May 2008 at 6:33pm |
Well, not crayfish related this time...but another sad tale..
Today my DH spotted a little lizard thingy at work and decided to bring it home and show Alyssa. I don't know what it's called, but let's call it a gecko cause it's the only one I know..
So anyway, before dinnertime we took her outside and pulled out the container with the gecko and Alyssa was so excited! I stood by, filming it on my digital camera to capture her first encounter with any kind if lizard. We let it run around on the patio and she just watched it so fascinated! The colours of the gecko kind of blended in with the patio, so when it walked away a little further I wasn't sure where it was, and neither was Alyssa. You can hear me on the video saying "where has it gone?".. next part of the video shows Alyssa clomping forward in her gumboots searching for it then *SPLAT*...I guess she found it. My voice on the video says "OMG you let her kill it!" DH was too slow to stop her walking on it and I'm still a bit annoyed at him for "letting" her kill it! He claims he had no time to react, but I have video evidence to the contrary.. It's basically a snuff film now.
I felt sad eating spag bol for dinner cause the spaghetti kind of reminded me of the little tail just wiggling around on the ground
A pic I managed to take pre-murder...

Oh dear! So cute that he thought to bring it home to show her but so sad that it ended badly for Mr Lizard!
At least she's not old enough to feel guilty about it though!

PMSL!!
DH & DD had a similar experience with a stick insect (except she squashed it in her hands, apparently she was very remorseful afterward) - they had a burial ceremony for it and said a few prayers, DD laid a flower on the grave and DH told everyone that it was her first encounter with mortality.

Yeah the pic looks like a skink (from what you can see in the container) My cat brings them in all the time - and Ashleigh is absolutely petrified of them!! You should hear how hysterical she gets when she sees them
Lol at snuff film!!
