Topic: Where do you lay a complaint? Posted: 05 May 2008 at 9:38pm |
Just seeing the m/w post got me thinking, after realising what a cr*p labour I had care-wise from my m/w (she made sure we were OK but never told me anything and told me off when I was screaming in agony) and the fact that if I had not insisted on going to the hospital with or without her I would've ended up like a friend of mine who gave birth on the side of the road because this m/w told her that she wasn't far enough along (m/w lived 2 streets over and at 7am wouldn't bother coming to check her progress) - I want to make a complaint to someone about her care. I've heard such bad things about her since I've had Jack (if only I knew beforehand - well I did but noone else would take me) She never gave me one of those questionnaire things they're supposed to that we give to someone about her care (she 'forgot' it that day) and only ever saw me about 3-4 times after we got home with Jack.
Ok, that's a jumble, but anyway what I want to know is, who do I contact about laying a complaint? If I lay one, can it be anonymous to the m/w? I know she'd be one of those people that would harrass me about it and I just don't want to have to deal with that.
Advise on where to go? TIA lovely ladies!

I just had a look in my maternity information booklet, and it tells me that you can lay a complaint with the Clinical Manager where you give birth OR the NZ College of Midwives resolution Committee.
Good luck Emz

Cool ta. Will ring the college of midwives tomorrow and see where to go from there. Thanks, I had absolutely no idea where to start!
Yeah I was supposed to get a letter to fill in but the m/w 'forgot' it, then said she would send it which she never did.

Yeah, you should have gotten a letter from your midwife to post in about the care you recieved.
