I just called to order some dinner from my favourite little restaurant and found out the owner/chef 'Eddie' has passed away from cancer. I'm crying. Going to his restaurant for dinner was a weekly ritual for us. He was such a nice guy. It was because of him that I got so into food. I loved him.

That is so sad, hopefully his restaurant continues on.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Big hugs Aprilfools. I guess there will be a lot of people missing him from the neighbourhood. Was it sudden or had he been sick for awhile?

Obviously for the family it wasn't so sudden but we ran into him at Mitre10 a month or so ago and he seemed fine. We had no idea although it's not the sort of thing that you'd tell just anybody I guess. I hope his sons keep his restaurant going. It won't be the same driving past and seeing him outside having a gas bag to one of the locals.
I feel a bit of a dork feeling so sad but he was just one of those people that you come to love as part of your environment. He was West Aucklands very own bit of Italy.
