We just put ours into a plastic container and into the freezer (haven't taken it out yet but hopefully it should still be ok). But the freezer is the best place to keep it.

Do you want to keep it for some time? Then freeze it. Our cake was chocolate and we just wrapped it in several layers of Gladwrap and then froze it. To be sure you could also put it in a container. Our cake was still good on our first wedding anniversary

We had the same problem as we had half fruit (to shut the oldies up) and half chocolate (to shut me up :)

Couldn't figure out what to do with all the left overs so I ate them instead.

Depends how long you want to keep it? Fruit cake lasts ages if it is kept in like a Tupperware container. My grandmother makes us a fruit Xmas cake every year and is still good a couple of months later.

If you want to keep it a while, then I would put it in a sealable container in the freezer

We have our gladwrapped about 5 times and then in a sealable plastic bag. Our has been in there for nearly 3 years now so we are going to take it out on number 5 (my aunty who makes cakes said it will still be good as after than amount of time), I won't eat it but DH can scoff the lot.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
