Topic: My bad day just got SO MUCH worse.... Posted: 23 March 2006 at 2:11pm |
Ok, so I have been throwing a huge wobbly at home for the last few days. Am generally not liking Andy, will not bore you with the details!! But now everything is SO MUCH WORSE!
Let me set the scene: Quinn woke up from a snooze, we were both feeling a bit peckish. Rummage thru the fridge and decided it was vital that we eat hummus on pita bread immediately. So I went to turn on the oven for a wee bit of grilling... and THERE IS A BLOODY COCKROACH IN MY OVEN!! Now, I'm not sure about anyone else, but I hate cockroaches with a passion. I squealed like a little girl for a bit, ran around waving my hands and swearing! Then tried to get the b**tard out but now he has wedged himself into a cockroach shaped crevice and I can't get him.
What can I do? (am not really looking for suggestions here, I guess there is not much to do, just need sympathy) I phoned Andy to have a whinge and he reckons I should turn the oven on, hmm, and end up with roast cockroach? I don't think so, what a typically boy answer.
Boo hoo, sorry for my novel.

Spray some oven cleaner on him - don't think he would like that and might come out of his hidey hole! I was gonna say fly spray but you probably don't want to spray that in your oven

Oh Anna I know how you feel, we have cockroaches here that live in our hedge out the front door, when it rains(which it did last night really heavily) they come inside. They seem to fit in the smallest gap possible and come inside anywhere they can. They are so gross and the scuttle so fast. I would just leave it there till Andy comes home and tell him to get it and not to come out of the kitchen until he has. Or like everyone else has said you can try oven cleaner. Big hugs.

Nasty nasty little creatures. I hate them. It freaks me out that they are so hard to kill.

I have decided to go on a cooking strike until Andy deals with it. This gives me the best of both worlds. No cooking, which is good cause I HATE it and getting him to clean the oven! What more could a girl want!

At my old house, when I was still living with my mum as a student, we ended up with a cockroach problem - and while I absolutely HATE them, mum hated them worse !! So I'd have to catch them and kill them if I couldn't spray them straight away. I actually took one to the museum once, because they have folks that can identify what type it is - as there are only certain sorts that will go into a house etc. (based on the external environment or something). We ended up having to get an exterminator type bloke in to do a huge spray of both the inside and outside of the house with a special insecticide stuff - thank god they never came back after that The worst time though was when one of them must've been living inside our magazine basket that was next to our settee, so I picked up a magazine to read, opened it and SPLAT - out fell this cockroach into my lap. I screamed loud enough for the whole neighborhood to hear I think
