Does anyone else have a child who loves toothpaste? We seriously have to hide the toothpaste in our house because Kobe eats it. I was just on here and thought it was a bit quiet in the lounge, went down and he had found the toothpaste and was sitting on the chair watching tv munching away on toothpaste. We dont have a problem getting him to brush his teeth its getting him to stop! obviously we need to have toothpaste in the house but i have no idea what to do with him, surely it cant be healthy for him.

Heheh, I remember that phase with Sean. I wish he'd show the same vigour with personal hygeine now. It's a lot better than the eating lipstick phase, but still not the healthiest or most nutritious. I'd keep hiding it and rationing it heaping positive praise when he uses a little and then stops. You could also use a 3-minute egg-timer for limiting the tooth brushing. Boys tend to like races and gadgets, so combining the two with a chore is a good way of seeing if he can finish his teeth the same time the egg timer stops. Good luck.

Yep, Maya is a toothpaste fan. It takes me half an hour to convince her to brush her teeth, but once she gets in there I can't get her out. She literally eats it out of the tube.

I figure at least her insides are getting a good clean out...

Every time Han goes into the bathroom it's "Teeth! Teeth!" which generally codes for "I want to eat toothpaste!". Wish she'd actually do some brushing instead of just sucking. We keep ours up high so she can't get it.

Gosh, I wish! Kiya has decided she doesn't like the taste of anything mint... and we've had a couple of major battles on our hands when we discovered the toothpaste from her brush wiped straight onto the flannel, towel, or basin, or when we caught her carefully sucking the toothpaste off the toothbrush and spitting it straight down the drain!

She's finally got the idea, but every now and then she tries again.

Don't they still have kids toothpastes out there that taste like bubblegum, maybe that would work for Kiya? Then again, maybe not... LOL I have no idea really, I can just see Erin turning into a toothpaste addict !

Jake is a toothpaste eater too. I bursh his teeth and sing "ABC" or some song, and once that's finished, it's his turn...to basically suck on the brush. however, if I brush my teeth at the same time - he'll copy my movement and actually brush...then spit on the floor. gross

Andrew ate half the toohpaste on Saturady morning. I left for work at 7.30am and left Andrew with Thomas so daddy could have some sleep. Andrew however managed to open the pantry and eat half a loaf of bread and then half the tube of toothpaste. He had a sore mouth for a little while afterwards and also have nice smelling breath.

caitlyn never was addicted to toothpaste..noooo she preferred (last night actually) to cover her entire hands with my lipstick and put handprints ALL. DOWN. THE. HALL

but! from a professional (ha!) educated view, as a dental assistant who sees evidence of this habit a lot, generally, it is not good for them (or anyone) to have too much, they should be having a little less than a pea size, too much can cause flouride marks on the teeth and man, besides that, toothpaste is expensive! (unless ur me and get every tooth product and treatment for free whoop whoop)
