We're getting it all here on the Kapiti Coast - hail, thunder and lightening! We think our house just got hit - there was a simultaneous flash and absolutely massive boom of thunder then only our house lost power for a bit. If it wasn't actually a direct hit is was damn close!

Oh and it's so cold the hail ain't melting... (hope these aren't too huge)

Wow scary. I am waiting for the ground here to turn white. It should start falling soon.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Yeah tell me about it... the hail is making a hell of a racket and while I normally like a good thunder storm right overhead is just a wee bit scary!

Wow, you had a good dose of the 'winter wonderland' at your place! We got quite a bit more at our place after I took those photos but don't think I'd of risked frostbite like you did!

Our house has been struck by lightening twice in the past three years. Fried our laptop the first time, so now we always unplug the computer and pull out the phone plugs (phonelines are most susceptible). Don't use a cordless phone in a thunder and lightening storm as if your house is struck it can come down the phone line, go across the room to the cordless phone and zap you .  I turned off the mains last time we had an overhead storm as it was so scary - our windows were shaking more than they do in a small earthquake from the thunder . Oh well, guess its part of the territory, living on the wild west coast . Cool pics of the hail.

ha, we went down to welly on saturday and stopped at shannon because it had just had another huge hail storm and the roads were iced up and there had been an accident.   We were wondering if we'd ever get thru cos last time we tried to go down it absolutely hailed really bad here in palmy and we nearly left the road near longburn so we turned round and came home. crazy crazy weather round here lately
