Blake has been getting a bit unsettled...mostly at night (as in after 9) for the last 4 nights. Doesnt scream but kind of strains and strains then falls off to sleep then wakes again and starts to cry... strain...cry...The only thing I can do that settles him is feed. Last night I feed for what seemed like hours!!! And I am sure thats not right?

I will check with the MW today but I am thinking it might be wind or colic maybe since he is prem??? is there anything you can get to help settle their tums?

My little Paige was an eater and sleeper..hardly said BOO so this is all new!!! Feeel Awful when he looks so uncomfortable....

sounds like wind to me...some times they will feed more or appear to want to feed when it is wind.
we used to give gabriel a teaspoon of cooled boiled water as gripe water had no effect on him.

Well I just recently figured out that what Ella was doing wasn't common.. she cried each evening for four hours from about 1 week - 8 weeks old.. there isn't really much you can do if it's colic I just had to feed her every 30 mins until she finally fell asleep.

Yeah sounds like wind to me too, Addy does the same sometimes. I wouldnt think it would be anything to do with being prem so I would try boiled water or gripe water. You can get something called infacol but baby has to be 4 weeks I think before you can give it to them but you could keep it in mind if its still a problem then. Is he filling his nappy enough? Couldnt be constipation could it?

Mum suggested to put him down and after about 10 min's get him up if he not settled and try to bring up ind again I was jsut holding him till he did and that was not working will let you know how I get on with that. Hope thing's get better for your wee man soon.

Feeding for hours is normal for some babies... there is a name for it, it is cluster feeding. When Quinn was small I felt like I sat on the couch for hours feeding, often I would be there from about half six thru til about nine or ten. It is also common for them to get a bit fussy at this stage.

Check with your midwife just in case but also have a read of these if you get a chance...

ohh hunny its not nice is it i use to lie james on the floor and let him have a kick with no nappy on and then pick him up to release the wind worked sometimes water can also help epes if they are conisterpated there not much you can do if its colic but if you are real worried try a pulket house they can help with holding so bubs is more comterble

Another we trick is to lie baby on the floor or your knee on her back and gently push her legs up, kind of like you would if you were changing her bum, it can take a minute or two and baby can be a bit uncomfortable as it pushes the wind out but you normally get a few really good farts and if your really lucky an explosion! When I do this with Addison she gets this really glassy eyed expression on her face and it all comes out, looks so funny but not funny to change

Yep, I can recommend that leg pushing thing too. Joshie was pretty uncomfortable with wind for the first couple of weeks, but that really helped to get rid of it.
