Anyone else feel like the best friends they have are on here? Or am I just incredibly sad?! I have a lot of friends but no really good friends - none that I just call up for a chat or anything... Just thinking about this cos I've been home by myself all day, bored, and I havent been able to come up with anyone to catch up with for no reason Oh well, at least I've got all my housework done (hopefully will make hubby feel bad for deserting me!)

feel exactly the same Aimme. my bestest friend moved to london this year, another is in the airforce and moved away to be near the base, and the other best mate i have works nights so i enver see her or can get hold of her and viceversa. and with studying i don't get to do all the SAHM stuff, but i don't get to socialise with the other students in my class either cos i used to go feed ayja at lunch times. so yep. I feel the same.....

and mike wonders why i check on here each day....

Most of my "best friends" are online. Perhaps not on this site as I haven't been on here for very long at all. But it is a bit depressing when you are bored and wanna hang out with somebody and you can't since you haven't really met them or anything or aren't nearby.

I have found more and more that it seems to be on line friends that I want to rush to to tell good news or for comfort. I think part of that though is that the on line friends I have are at a similar "stage" of life to me whereas my non cyber friends are very much not, I am the only married one and none of them are even contemplating kids

I find that with a lot of my good friends its hard to catch up with cos we all have husbands or kids to spend time with and we are working aswell (except for me now yay) so yeah I can call them and tell them any news but if anything happens with pregnancy or I feel like a chat then I jump on here, especially since hubby works nights and Im normally sitting home by myself while my friends are all having dinner and catching up with there hubbys so dont need me butting in on thier family time.

I have a lot of friends who I know once we see each other, we'll chat like always, but no-one really that I catch up with everyday. I think my days of that are relegated to high school. The Oh Baby ladies were the first ones who I told I was pregnant with Taine.

I have just started to feel a bit down in the dumps being at home all day with my son. I love being a mum more than anything, but I do miss adult company during the day. So just a couple of days ago I came onto Ohbaby for the first time, and already I can see how wonderfull and friendly everyone is. I feel better already, and just know I am going to get addicted!! So thanks everyone, just for being here, even if you didn't realise it, you have made me feel a lot better!

Just to do a random "plug" have any of you girls tried going to playcentre with ur little ones?
I started going last year when Arna was about 1 (just after) and it was awesome! Was meaning when I moved up to Taranaki I stopped going as I had so much else to do... but starting again tomorrow I am so excited.
Most run 3 mornings a week (around 9am - noon) and you can go one morning, 2 or all 3.

Plug over

I do have a a small bunch of "besties" but at the mo i live 45mins from them so hard to catch up all the time but once i move upto hastings will be great as they are mates that i have had for years and years and the kind i can call when am in a bawling heap. Infact one friend can recognise my sobs on the phone now lol how bad is that.
But i do find OhBaby great for the daily catchup etc as my friends are all a toll call and i put a toll bar on my phone.
Playgroup is great too. Am really going to miss the ladies from our one here as they are a great bunch of really funny ladies and i feel i have slotted in nicely but i well, will get to meet a whole other bunch of nice ladies once we move. Plan to keep in touch with the ones from here too

I am a bit over coffee group/playgroups at the moment. Just feel it all gets a bit competitive - m babies doing this or that, has all these teeth, and oh is Hannah still not rolling! Argh! Havent been to any for a while. I think maybe it will be better once the kids are running around? but then it will prob be about how far they can count or say the alphabet or something! And I would really like to talk about something other than babies, but I think all we have in common is our kids... Have just started doing some inservices with other physios in town and its so nice to talk about something else!

I have friends all over the place (legacy of so many moves!) but the ones I catch up with most often are the ones here on Oh Baby.

I only have one kindof friend here in Ohakune... I would say our relationship is more than aquaintanceship but not quite friendship yet...

At least, no matter where we end up moving to when we move away from Ohakune there's a good chance at least one of you ladies will be nearby! (so expect a visitor! )

My friends are you guys. I feel lucky that you guys are here when I need you.... Like you Aimee I dont have many friends that I can call or what ever. I lived so many years in Bangladesh/Zimbabwe that all my closest friends are in o/seas.....

But I dont have time to be bored ...I am at work (working hard....as you see) and then at home I am busy with Zaara and cooking and cleaning etc etc....

Oh my only friend is my hubby!...mind you I cant bitch to him about my MIL....he he ha ha

Don't worry Aimee! I'm with ya!
I mean, I've got quite a few friends who I still manage to catch up with, but they aren't really in the same place as me. It's really weird because I'm still at the age where I should be living a party filled (or atleast slightly social) life, but I'm such a homebody now.
So anyway, I appreciate the fact that I can live in limbo on here, knowing that there are parents in the same (or similar) position.

And it's quite cool that while this is a parenting site, we manage to talk about a whole lot of other stuff too! As geeky as it is... I love talking to you guys

I am from Taranaki - where abouts are you lenabeanz? It does feel a bit secluded (sure thats spelt wrong - hope Jax not reading this hehe) I know when I had my son I was young and no one I knew had babies most of my friends were in the uk as I had not long got back from there, I met up with another mother and we went to Playcentre - I must be honest although they were all friendly etc.. I always felt the odd one out I was 20 and a single mother and most were married , older ( most late 20's up wards and just at a different stage than me. Josh loved it though. I did not go with Brooke I ended up at parents centre felt more in common with most ppl there and they were round my age although I was older. I will probably end up at parent centre this time around as well. I plan to go back to work part time so hope fully there will be a time to work around.

I would say Hurmpf! and I feel like chopped liver now but we did become friends through another online forum! *lol*

I'm the same though, often too easier to share with online friends, easier to be more open etc...

I consider you an online friend though Paws, as that is where we met.

My other friends are school ones, and you know ALL about them
